I'm kind of surprised I didn't post in this thread before. Just because I graduated 26 years ago...
Spanish Club (officer for 3 years) National Honor Society Girl Scouts (yeah, in high school, we didn't tell ANYBODY ever!) Candystriper (volunteering at local hospital, knew it would be a prereq to getting into the med school program I wanted to get into, ended up finding out about Occupational Therapy while helping the Physical Therapists in their area and ended up majoring in OT instead) Worked 20-30 hours a week from the time I was 16 I had something to do every day of the week, although it doesn't look like much compared to some of these lists! |

The good news was that because I was the only member, not a lot of people knew about it and there wasn't the "drama club geek" distinction. That and I got to choose the plays and musicals we did. And my budget was a lot bigger than a lot of other clubs, lol. I swear I was in other clubs and sports teams that had more members than just me. Yearbook French Club Spanish Club Chorus Pop Group (aka Show Choir) All County Chorus All State Chorus Band All County Band Track and Field Soccer Musicals - Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Narrator) Grease (Rizzo) Plays - Julius Caesar (Portia) Prom Committee National Honor Society JCLA (a Christian theatre troupe) Lifeguard and Swimming teacher (for elementary kids) I had two summer jobs, one teaching swimming 15 hours a week and one working as a barback (then a waitress) at an outdoor seasonal bar and grill. |
I was a HUGE drama geek in high school. But since my major is theatre, no one should be surprised...
National Merit Scholarship Finalist -I didn't get the scholarship from the National Merit Corporation, but I still get bragging rights and a fancy scholarship from my university Beta Club National Honor Society EAST Lab- basically, a community service class that uses technology as the mode of service. I'd do video work for various organizations for free. I learned how to use professional grade video cameras and software. International Thespian Society -on the cabinet all three years, president my final year Troubadours (drama club) Forensics (the theatrical kind, not CSI) - I had a lot of finalist and third place trophies to my name. I was also a captain of our squad my senior year. Musicals- Seussical (chorus), Footloose (Wendy Jo) Plays- Juvie (Carrie), DUI=DOA (Bus Child #2) DUI=DOA was the most awful play I've ever read... I was also inducted into a French honor society my senior year, but that wasn't a big deal. |
It's interesting to see how many different activities schools have, wow!
I went to a tiny, rural high school so we didn't have a lot of clubs or organizations sadly! I was in: Drama Club International Thespian Society (founding member; officer) Stage Manager for 3 plays FCCLA (officer) FBLA Key Club (officer) Scholar Bowl Science Olympiad NHS Art Club I worked 20 hours a week at a fast food place, then one of those phone survey places, then Dollar General. I graduated a semester early. |
Wow, I feel completely worthless compared to many of you...
Softball - 4 years, one year as captain Golf - 3 years, two years as captain GAA Intramurals Spanish Club - 3 years Social Dance Club - 3 years, one year an officer That's about it. Does being on the honor roll count? :o I also worked about 10 hours a week at a marketing consulting firm, where I would type up transcripts of recorded telephone interviews.
