Unfortunately for some guys there are women today who DO run around making false accusations, for a variety of reasons. I've seen it often enough to know it's not rare. All good men join all good women in condeming real rape. But today, any accuser is automatically a "victim" and the accused is automatically guilty in the public mind. Even when the accusation is proven false, no charges are filed against the accuser. I don't want to get in a fight over this; I live in a college town and work on a campus and I see this with regularity. I agree absolutely that no woman wants to be raped, unless she is psychotic, and in that case she needs to be protected against her own inclinations. But, these days when a boy is accused of rape when it's not rape, he has little if any chance to recover the damage to his name or lost prospects. |

I absolutely believe that men are occasionally accused faslely of rape. But I have noticed lately that anytime someone famous is accused of rape, some people will automatically claim that they are a target for false accuations.
Unfortunatly rape is a he said/ she said crime... not all victims are saints and not all alledged perps are guilty. |
To True, but it needs to be taken by a case per case situation doesnt it?
It is not only well known people but the plain folks as well. It can and does happen to many people at all levels. I think the Thread at what happened at UT-Chattannoga is a prime example. |

Firehouse is the bomb diggity PERIOD. No doubt. |
From 1989-2001 I worked p/t for a well-known pizza delivery company (sorry, no commercial). Periodically I'd be asked to deliver 'zas to the local Christian college on the north end of our delivery area.
Most of the deliveries were made to guys in dorms or the graduate apts., but there were frequent orders from the largest dorm on campus: a women's hall that housed 300+. The majority of the time the ladies wanted me to bring the order to their room because they didn't want to schlep downstairs to the lobby. However, I asked if they'd make the trip anyway. Why make a coed come downstairs? It's simple: even though the women attending this school were "born again Christians", I didn't think it would be wise for a lone male to be roaming the halls. Yes, I was old enough to be their dad, but all it would take is for one woman who's pissed off @ her parents/boyfriend/profs/etc. to scream that "R" word after I'd passed her doorway. I didn't feel the possibility, no matter how small, was worth it. During that entire 12 year period I only went into the sleeping areas one time; this was to deliver an order to a customer who'd ordered frequently, so I felt comfortable in walking to her room (3 doors off the lobby). Most of the other delivery guys thought I was nuts, but I never felt the need to utilize my umbrella liability policy. In light of what happened @ UT-C & the problems other LCA chapters have had (e.g. Arizona State), I still maintain I'd rather be in a well-lit, public area. That way, in case anything bizarro did happen, I'd have witnesses. |
