I agree. If that's just a nice way to say you didn't receive a bid, they need some serious help in the communication department.

I think everyone was just kind of speculating...but I feel like the chapter should have told us when we were there what to expect.
I don't really have any news yet...my friend told me last night that there were definitely people voted in and the final vote was held last night. This morning, the chapter emailed all of us who went to the COR event and said that they will be in touch with us later this week.

I agree with you. It's a little weird for them to keep you waiting as long as you have. But hat news is good then! At least you have some sense of when you'll find out!

From my COB experience, we never really tell the girls coming to our events how many spots we have open. However, we certainly wouldn't COB if we didn't have any spots at all! And I suspect that if we only had a couple of spots, only a couple of girls would be COB'd at a time. If a girl lost interest or was for some reason voted down, we'd COB someone else, but we wouldn't do a larger scale COB for a tiny amount of spaces. Did I make sense there?

I wish you luck. Seems like if they've voted you should know, but i'll keep my fingers (and toes) crossed for you!

We don't disclose the number of openings we have either. We also never told girls when we were doing membership selection. We did give them a set day by which they could expect to hear something (whether you get a bid or not, we still call and let you know something).

I can totally understand that-- it's really none of our business how many girls the chapter is going to take and when they're going to be voting on it, after all-- but I think it would have been nice to get a general time frame ("We'll call you by next Friday" or "We'll let you know by Sunday"), because a lot of us have never done this before and don't really know what to expect. I know that I personally have been really jittery ever since going to the event-- constantly checking my email and phone to see if they've contacted me for the last five days. Soo...hopefully I'll hear something in the next few days...

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you sweetie. I hope that everything turns out for the best.

Whatever the case - keep busy!! Remember, a watched phone never rings.

Become even more interesting than you are - volunteer for something, study something not on your syllabus, join an organization that has intrigued you, offer to be a tutor - anything to keep your mind off of "the magic email"!!!

As said so many times before, sorority is not the end all, be all - it's wonderful & fulfilling, but so are many other activities. When I went to school, rush didn't start until the end of the first term, so I got involved with an organization that was one of the best things I ever did for myself - and built up my confidence, bid or no bid. Hope you find the same thing!

ditto...ditto...ditto...move forward and don' t let the present situation stop you.
cheers
