That's wonderful! BUT, she is NOT listed in the AKA book as a honorary member.

I know you all are not trusting WEBSITES! :p :D

ETA: maybe she's a ghost! :p
ETA2: And The DN? Wasn't that book full of flaws/incorrect info? No disrespect to the former GCer author, LR! :p

1) Most certainly not! The Wikipedia site also lists Wanda Sykes. As much as I love her, even I know she's not a soror...right?

2) You would know better than me! I'm just a neo! :D :p

And that's why I asked a member. :)

Thanks for the clarification. Moving on.

Enjoyed the ball. Kudos to Oprah for a wonderful and inspirational event that capitalized on US.

Not necessarily. She (Wanda) is a soror! Hampton U in the 80s! :D

Search GC for The Divine 9. There was much discussion about the incorrect info in the book. :D

From the Interview:

KW: I know you’re a member of AKA, the pink-and-green sorority. Are you still in touch with any of your sorority sisters?

WS: The ones I went to school with at Hampton, we still keep in touch. It’s just so hard getting together, because we’re scattered all over the country. But when I’m on tour, if someone is in that city, she’ll come out to the show and it’s always great seeing them.

Perhaps it isn't that these women aren't opting not to 'go greek', but rather, aren't in situations where joining a BGLO is an option. I wonder if we view the legends of tomorrow (say 50 years from now) if the list will have expanded to include women other than entertainers who's full impact/potential has not yet been realized. Perhaps it will include current politicians, activists, authors, playwrights, directors, business women, etc. who will have gone to college and therefore may have some greek affiliation.
Excellent Point.
