I used to want to name our future son Lance II after myself, but since my wife insists on calling him by his middle name if we do that I nixed that idea. Her rationale is that it would cut down on confusion, but I don't believe in calling a child by their middle name. If I want to do that, it would make more sense to just make that the first name. She has a cousin that is a Jr. and is always referred to by his middle name so she doesn't see the problem. All of the Jrs and thirds in my family are still called by their first name.

Right now we are leaning towards Cameron for a boy or Gabrielle for a girl.

The one thing I know for sure is that if I have children, I will NOT saddle any child with the headache of having a name that's difficult to spell or pronounce. I've known:

Nneka
Liisa
MyJenay (my-zhen-AY)
Yamaich (pronounced ya-MEE-ka)

I can't count how many hours these women spend every week spelling their name OVER and OVER on the phone...sending misprinted credit cards back to the bank...repeating their names three or four times to new business contacts who still can't get it right...

I have a rule that if you put "Chief Justice" in front of the name and it sounds implausible, then don't name your child that. It's not a coincidence that our female justices are named Ruth and Sandra. There will be no "Chief Justice Stahr'lyte Khrysteen" in our lifetimes.

My cousin had a baby and he let his wife pick the name. CLAWD have mercy. Ol’ girl combined their names with their mothers’ to come up with a 17-letter monstrosity. After repeating it for me 3 times, he finally said, “the third ‘T’ is silent.” I was too through. She has a middle name too but I don’t remember what that is.

As for me, my next child will be either Dreux (pronounced - Drew) Alexandre or Anne-Marie Sabrina.

AngelicWings21 06-10-2004 07:54 PM

For my future baby girl:
Nichelle Leianna

if I had another girl- Kaleaha Simone

For my future baby boy:
Maliek Jailen

...I guess I would leave the next boys name
to the father...lol

I have a big list of names
but those are the above are the ones
I like the most...

I have some soap opera names I know. But, I scratched Micah from my list four years ago. I had the most horrible student by that name...had me changing my nonexistent son's name. The little hellion!

If it's a boy.......Brandon Xavier

If it's a girl........Brandi Janae'
