I know that the fraternities on our campus tend to have some pretty dirty shirts at times. I wish that they had to get shirt slogans approved by someone because I'm sure a lot of them wouldn't fly if they had to do that. Also, if we're not supposed to drink in letters than I think the greek shops should stop carrying shot glasses, flasks, and other drinking accessories.

speaking of inappropriate shirts, I found this one for sale on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

I think its pretty disgusting myself. A party shirt from Hosta U. it looks like.

Here's something else. Someone is actually selling someone's initiation certificate from Pikes.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...700207714&rd=1

Paddles, composites, and especially initiation certificates should definitely not be sold on ebay.

Contraception Party!?!
For some reason I don't think that would fly at my school :)
I wonder what they passed out as favors LOL

GeekyPenguin 07-11-2005 09:04 PM

Absolute worst shirt I ever saw belongs to the chapter of a GC member.

XYZ brotherhood...tighter than your little sister

It had a little girl with a teddy bear on it. Disgusting.

DeltaEtaKP 07-11-2005 09:07 PM

Gross...
I saw a shirt that said, "XYZ--We May not go down in history, but we will go down on your sister" Then it had all the sorority letters at the bottom.

SurfinDBeach 07-11-2005 09:20 PM

LOL!!!

I'm sorry, as dirty and classless as it is, that was hilarious...

With that said, it's absolutely WRONG...

I'm not gonna lie - i've seen shirts with (* connotates a Greek Letter):

(The John Deere Logo - Reindeer)
* * * - Pullin Hoes since 18!!'

(An image of a gas pump)
SAVE GAS - RIDE A * * *...

(The name of the theme party) - You couldn't come, but your girlfriend did twice...

(Pictures of building tools)
* * * - Screw, Nut, Bolt...

I don't think any of those are as bad as the two that you guys posted!!!

Zeta Sigma Chi doesn't have a list persay of what you can't have. It's more of a protocol of what is appropriate, which seems similar to some of the NPHC organizations.

I always wondered if other groups did have rules on what was appropriate or what was not appropriate because of what I've seen online. Does NPC/IFC have any rules at all on appropriate peri?

LMAO.

I agree with DSTCHAOS. Z-Chi's aren't allowed to have most of the things on this thread either. I think it's about being responsible and wearing what you are allowed to and also recognizing that tacky is tacky, lol. some things are just tacky.

You know, until I started reading this thread, I had never HEARD of Zeta Sigma Chi. How are you gonna get all upset because someone called you a Zeta Chi, when you used the term Z-Chi? Sounds like the same thing to me....

Delta has both written and unwritten protocol. Of course, the written protocol is more universally (and more easily) enforced.
This is pretty much the same for Theta Nu Xi.

Nobody got upset, I just corrected. I didn't call anyone out, get loud, or post any thing rowdy. I know that a lot of people haven't heard of my sorority, which is why I just posted it correctly. I assume most people on here would do the same to make sure their letters are correctly represented, especially people in organizations that are newer and that aren't as national as some of the NPC or NPHC organizations.

In this day and age where there are several organizations that are close in name and people may have similar nicknames, it is only fair out of greek unity and respect for other greeks that you respect their name and nicknames that different organizations take on. There is a fraternity called Zeta Chi that is definately different than my sorority.

I'm sorry if you don't like the fact that I corrected the name of my organization, but that's something you're going to see if someone posts it incorrectly, period. It's not out of malice or attitude, it's out of love of my organization. You are the only person who seems to be upset about the post, not me. If you wouldn't do the same for your organization, that's your problem, not mine.

I didn't say i didn't like the fact that you were correcting it - I dont blame you. BUT, as you said, there ARE lots of groups out there with almost similar nicknames, and you gotta do what you gotta do to make sure people know the difference. Alpha Xi Delta's call themselves A Xi D's (Prounounced A Z D) and sometimes people think that means Alpha Zeta Deltas - which we're not.

I guess I dont understand the whole concept behind nicknames that DONT give reference to all letters...you said Z-Chi (which didnt refer to Sigma anything) and what's another one that stand out? Pi Phis? Phi Pi's? When I think its gotta Beta somewhere in the middle? Someone help me out here, i cant remember the name of that organization we don't have them at my campus and I'm not sure if there is a chapter somewhere close or not.

AnonAlumna 07-12-2005 08:33 AM

I see where you're getting at, amanda. Maybe they are allowed to call themselves Z-Chis, but non-members are to refer to the full name.

There are several three letter GLOs that go by two, and sometimes only one letter! Pi Phi, Alpha Chi, Zeta...those are the only one at the tip of my tongue right now.

Gamma Phi, Kappa, Sigma...the NPHC Alphas, Deltas, Sigmas, Ques, etc.

Beta, Theta, Tau (sometimes used by Alpha Tau Omega), Lambda Chi, Phi Psi, Phi Tau . . . .

Plus the ones that use shortened forms of one or two letters: Delts, Alpha Gam, Delta Sig, Pi Kapp, Sig Ep, Phi Delt, Phi Kapp, Phi Lamb, Phi Sig . . . .

DSTCHAOS 07-12-2005 11:23 AM

You don't have to explain yourself, rocketgirl. Nonmembers don't HAVE to understand everything...I promise.

A chapter at my school got suspended for a shirt. I believe it said:
"Pulling hoes since [insert founding date of the fraternity]". I think they made these shirts for recruitment week.
