(no offense to either Sigma Chis or TKE's, just saying that since every group has weak chapters, I just so happen to be able to point to a couple that would fall in that category. I know that there are some equally weak Beta chapters and would never pretend to believe otherwise.)

I just updated my site with a Numbers section, that has all updated numbers. Some are outdated (the smaller organizations especially), but many are as current as I could find on official sites and from GC of course lol.
Gamma Phi's is still wrong. It should be 130,000 members. According to Gamma Phi's website. :D

This is late but I was looking for this thread after reading the Delta Zeta article. Not sure how they are the second largest if you include NPHC sororities but for the record Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated has about 950 undergraduate and alumnae chapters and has initiated 250,000 plus women since 1913. Every organization in the NPHC, except Iota Phi Theta which was founded a significant time after the other 8 orgs (but still have about 50K members) membership totals exceeds 100K.

As of March, 2004, we had 137,947 initiated members, 180 collegiate chapters (111 of which are active) and 120 alumnae chapters/clubs (only active ones counted there), but they didn't include Junior Circles (our 35 and under groups) because they are 'attached' to one of the other chapters/clubs.

I have to assume that chapters have had recruitment and initiation since March '04, so the total initiated members would increase. This is why it's difficult to keep numbers updated!

ok this may sound dumb, but i read a few posts about fraternities endowments... what exactly are those?

SapphireSphinx9 09-14-2004 01:24 PM

also, according to an email i received the other day this is the information on phi sigma sigma:

Currently, Phi Sigma Sigma has over 55,000 initiated members worldwide, with 107 collegiate chapters and colonies and 35 alumnae groups across North America.

We only have 6! We're brand new though, and our campus only has 500 people. We're hoping to rush 3 this semester, and at least 5 next semester though...we're local, so no min requirements!

I could be wrong (which very likely I could be!) but I believe with the closing of the Princeton chapter we're offically at 138. But we do have at least one colony lined up for next year :-)

Oh thanks for clearing that up! The website must be a little behind with their figures.. :)

23 active sisters, I'd venture to say around 5,000 initiated members, 80+ years, 1 chapter, 1 sisterhood, 1 love to bind us. Go Tau Delta!

Lambda Chi Alpha has about 250,000 maybe close to 260,000 now...If I read the minutes from General Fraternity right...whatever it is...."We're kinda of a big Deal, People know Us!"- Ron Burgundy???
