$2.05 on Saturday. Highest I've paid since I was in Illinois and Arkansas in February and in Colorado in January.

CougADPi 03-28-2005 08:41 PM

$2.21 a gallon...that really adds up with 60 miles worth of commuting a day!!!

AGDee 04-07-2005 11:49 PM

Up to $2.35 today.. auuugh! I have a co-worker who is commuting 100 miles a day. He may not be making enough money to keep working at this rate.

There was some talk by the Michigan legislature of a bill that would eliminate the state gas tax if the average cost went up to $2.30, but I haven't heard if it passed. Time to go look that one up!

I haven't been to the pump in a week, but someone told me today it was at $2.50. what the hell? I need to drive accross the state and go house hunting this weekend, but I'm on empty and I really can't afford these prices as a student! I swear, a week ago, it was $2.28, I don't know what happened.

I filled up for $0.999/litre the other day, but it has now gone up to $1.04/litre . Thank god I drive a Honda Civic is all I can say.

I think I will write my state rep and suggest that MO does away with the gas tax while prices are high! That is a great idea--- but I am sure my letter to the Rep wil end up in the trash-- although we grew up in the same town, he's a yr younger than me-- he does know me-- maybe I will call his house!! haha!

Apparently I'd heard the story wrong and what they were proposing was to cap the sales tax at the rate it would be once gas hit $2.30 a gallon. We'd still be paying the other 45 cents a gallon in gas taxes plus 6% sales tax on the first $2.30 per gallon. However, it was fought because Michigan's economy is in the pisser and they need the added tax revenue. <sigh> It was a nice thought.

We came over to Denny's last night and the station with the Subway on Grand had cheaper prices than this side of the border. It was 2.35 there and 2.49 over here. I think a lot more people are planning to carpool for all the formals on Lake CDA the next few weekends.

Maybe our economy would be better if we had cheaper gas prices, and then people would have more money in their pockets to spend places... IE the gas station??? People should get free vouchers for the gas station if they spend a certain amount on gas.

I pay $37 for my Mountaineer when I'm near empty. This sucks.

OH! Marathon on Northline between Fort and Dix always has the cheapest. Unfortunately I have a BP card so I'm stuck paying 2.22 right now, but Marathon's this morning was 2.17. There were two gas stations in Westland that were battling each other and got down to like 1.9something yesterday. Too bad no one Downriver is smart enough to do that.

Don't these gas stations realize that if they sold it cheaper than everyone else, they'd get more business and gather more revenue and probably make out about the same?

It's up to $2.50 a gallon here... and I just got a new full time job that has an hour commute. :( (Total... not one way.)

I suck with numbers and such, but is that true?? This morning gas is 105.7 ($1.057 CDN per litre). How much would that be in US funds per gallon?

Being the bored nerd that I am, I figured the $1.057 CDN per liter to be $4.89 US per gallon.

Right now gas around here is at about $2.19 a gallon. This isn't cute at all.

tinydancer 04-11-2005 01:10 PM

The station nearest my house is $2.18. I sure am glad I don't have to drive too far to work.

Sister Havana 04-13-2005 12:24 AM

It is around $2.35 near me. It's up to $2.65 in some parts of Chicago. And this is before May 1, when stations have to start selling the summer blend...that usually kicks prices up. People are predicting $3/gallon and more this summer.

Thank goodness I take public transportation to work...that's all I have to say.

AchtungBaby80 04-13-2005 12:43 AM

Oh, Lordy, gasoline was up to $2.34 the other day. My mom came home this afternoon and announced that it was $2.17, so we all got excited. This is insanity! I'm glad I only work .7 miles from my apartment...that means I can walk if I have to.
