this is one of the liveliest threads I've seen on GC. I'm glad people stopped being so PC around and started saying what they really think.

Tom, because some of the comments rudey said off hand were religion-based (i.e. stoning and such).

This is the assumption that all african and arab muslims who come to western societies are barbaric. This is offending b/c i am both african-canadian and muslim ...so I take this comment as a personal insult.

I've lived for 6 years in one of the most fundamentalist islamic countries in the world. He is giving people Muslim people a bad name when he suggests that rape and stoning is OK, when it is NOT. How countries behave and how muslim people in the western world behave is two separate things. You are mixing civilians with politicians. Again he shows this is a religious matter when he refers to "Christian" americans...as if to say one is better than the other..again, this is a false assumption.

If you behead them like in Mecca, I think they might not like their culture." again he is suggesting that all muslim people are from saudi arabia..because no two muslim country has the CULTURE....makes me wonder if he truly lived overseas!

While the numbers are fallacious . . . so is your personalization of them. Also, he is limiting his point to those in France . . . that's nothing to do with your culture, so why would you be offended? Unless there's some universal Muslim culture (which is a point we all refute)?

This is borderline nonsense, but we'll discuss. First of all, his implication was NOT what you say it is, to my mind. He was saying that a culture that believes rape is a matter of circumstance and reality does not exist in (primarily Christian) America. Others made the point that Christians do stupid crap too, and he was providing a macro example to dispute microphenomena. Rudey is NOT Christian, so he has no reason to shelter these interests; rather, he was pointing out the implicit flaws in this CULTURE (not the fucking religion, get that through your immensely thick dome!).


Oh my LORD. He is saying that if this culture was MORE like the one in Mecca . . . that indicates that he KNOWS they're not the same. READ. UNDERSTAND.
