I absolutely LOVE Ginny! And I thought that JKR did really well at portraying Harry as, first and foremost, a teenager. I just kept saying, "Harry is such a brat!" I too was a little confused as to why he didn't see the thestrals to begin with.

I'm all for Harry and Ginny getting together. Most of my fellow HP addicts here think that JKR will kill Harry at the end - :mad: I don't agree.

I thought Tonks was the greatest! I love how JKR captured everything about adolesent reactions with the whole Harry-Cho thing. Hermione cracked me up when she was telling Harry how he should have asked Cho to go with him to meet her.

The 6th book better come out quicker than this one or I'm tracking down JKR and standing over her should with a gun until she finishes it.

I totally cried when Sirius died. But I started *balling* when I realized Harry could have prevented it all if he a) opened his present from Sirius at some point after he got it and before the end b) he used the damn mirror and c) ignoring all that, just not pick up the damn prophecy!!!! If V isn't coming to get it himself and Harry is capable of fighting off the Deatheaters w/ his friends then the Deatheaters couldn't have done anything about it. The worst they could have done was caused it to blow up so they could listen to it and then go back to V to report. (Which I wonder why V didn't have them do that. Oh yeah, meglogiagantic ego!)

It bothered me how JKR kept saying Luna was looking dreamy. I had to keep re-reading to figure out if I was missing Luna crushing on Harry or Ron or, even odder, Harry or Ron crushing on Luna!

I want the next books out already!!!

Questions I want to know:
*How did they do on their OWLS?
*Will Harry ever realize just how much he actually contributed to Sirius' death and how will he react to that? 'Cause I'm thinking major depression if not just out right giving in to V!
*Will Percy also "give in to the dark side" or will he wake up to what a prick he is?
*Is it significant that Harry's mom was a redhead? Is Harry related to the Weasley's? And if so, is he part of the Black family since Molly is Sirius' cousin. And therefore related to Draco too?
*Did Sirius leave 12 Grimbald to Harry in his will? How will Sirius' mom handle that? Would that mean he's Kreacher's master? How much guilt would Hermoine give him for that?
*Will Hermoine ever stop acting like she's sooo much better that everyone else? Does Hermoine have any muggle friends? We know Harry doesn't.
*Will we find out that Aunt Petunia is not as muggley as she let's on? When she got the howler I too immediately thought that her family must have some old wizarding connections. Was she jealous of her sister? (uh, duh) Is Petunia a scrib??? And just what did Dudley hear???
*And something that's been bothering me terribly, how come these people are smart enough to put an owl in a cage while travelling but not their toads and cats!?!

I found it extremely wierd that Neville would save a gum wrapper from crazy Mom but not bother to stuff Daddy's broken wand bits in his pocket. If I'd been in that situation I would have been diving for every little splinter of wood I could get my hands on.

i've just read 4 pages of this thread and no ones has griped about the thing that bothered me the most about this book...
the new DaDA teacher. she was a fricken nazi! i had to put the book down several times because she made me so mad (the detention, qudditch and all the rules).

i was kinda suprised about Sirius death. i knew the some one was going to die, but i thought it was a main charecter.

i think that harry's moodiness is just teenage boy-ness with all of this dumped on him.

i also think that it's going to be a Harry/Ginny Ron/Hermione world :D

I've heard that JK is going to do 2 books after the 7 years at Hogwarts. 1 about what happens to every one in the future and one about the times when Harry's parents and them were in school. that would be awesome of her to do that.

its funny...hermionie never mentions her muggle friends..if she ever had any,..maybe she is always too busy studying..or reading hogwarts a history for the millionth time :) lol

i love the word "muggley" me and my sister (she is 13) thinks that petunia was a squib and cant do magic, so she resents and hates the magic world for "rejecting" her...this would explain her extreme hatred towards her "perrrfect sister" who her parents were soooooo proud of.. lol

oh- i am rereading the series and in book 2 there is this big ole thing with Tom Riddle about how much they are alike.... could it be... Harry is his son from out of wedlock? and is that why she took up for him when Harry's "father" was being mean to him, because they had something going on?

I really don't think so. First, Harry looks just like James, and if he was Tom's child, he wouldn't look like James. Also, I doubt anyone would hook up with Tom while he was killing all those people at the height of his power. Especially someone who was fighting him.

I'm rereading the series as well and I don't think that could be possible. I think the comparison stemmed from the fact that when Voldemort tried to kill Harry, he transferred some of himself into Harry (ie the Parselmouth). DUmbledore said so as well. Also, I was thinking about this and Tom Riddle had to be several years before Harry's parents. In CoS, it was opened 50 years earlier and I don't think Harry's parents were that old. :)

I have to agree with Rowling though on Snape. He does appear to have so much more to him than what everyone is "seeing". There definitely has to be a better side to him. I'm thinking that maybe the meanness is a front because of his past and he would be reported back too Voldemort if he was somehow nice to Harry and his friends.

On another note, I hate waiting! I wish the next book was already out!!!!

Well I finished the book..... I liked it alot; very interesting. I wonder how it will translate into film?

After finishing the book, I'm re-reading the others. Do this I noticed something. Okay, Snape is spying on the Death-Eaters right? sort of a double agent? Then how come he hasn't been caught? In the first book he confronts and opposes Quirrell, who is possessed by Voldemort, so how come he hasn't been "eliminated"? (unless he is a triple agent, hmm....)

Wouldn't have done any good. There are still Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire to be made into movies, and by the time they are made, the new actor will have played Dumbledore just as much as Richard Harris.

I don't think so. I think that in the last Chapter, Harry will be asked to stay on at Hogwarts, which he really considers his home, to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts -- he'll be the first teacher in a while to last more than one year.

Maybe it's the lawyer in me, but what I picked up on was that the prophecy says that either Harry or HWMNBN will kill the other. Harry asks, "so does this mean that either he will murder me, or I must murder him?" I'm thinking, "hmmm, 'kill' and 'murder'" are not the same thing." (And I'm betting JKR knows the difference.) The question now becomes not whether Harry will kill HWMNBN, but how it will come about. And I'm betting Neville (bless him) will figure in.

Is Snape really spying like a double agent? I don't remember that ever being said straight out (but I may have forgotten). My sense is that HWMNBN and the Death Eaters know perfectfully well that Snape is no longer one of them, but that Snape still has ways of finding out what they are up to.
