When I do that for my daughter and her colds. :( Seeing my phone bill!!!  Realizing that I have to PAY it!!!  |
When I was younger and I got my first bill I thought I was grown...now I beg to differ!
When I bought my car knowing full well my Uncle did not approve! |
Being able to help my mom with her bills
Being a part of Delta Sigma Theta (I've always held Delta on a pedestal and admired from afar so now that I'm part of it I feel more mature and grown up) :) |
Looking at woman's booty and it having that majic affect on my loins for the first time.
Drinking a beer with my Dad for the first time. Having my friends over and drinking with them in our house. Having a girl in the basement with my Dad as the lookout for Big Momma (so she would not stop the proceedings) Deciding to pledge (joining a "gang" according to them) over my parents objections and without their knowledge (but I wasn't too grown to ask for some pledging cash) The coup de gras, "I missed my period, what are you gonna do about it"? Mama used to say, "take your time young man...........don't you rush to get old" |
When my best friend and I get our daughters-who are 9 days apart-to play.

I searched for this thread just so I could put this in here:
MOVING INTO MY OWN APARTMENT, BEING A GRAD SCHOOL STUDENT, AND DOING SOMETHING THAT'S RIGHT FOR ME EVEN IF MY PARENTS DON'T AGREE. Whew. I held that in for too long! |
my 5th graders not knowing what "The perculator" is
Paying Bills Looking for a REAL JOB Looking for an actual apartment |
Writing checks makes me feel grown. When I was a child, I thought it was a really grown up thing to do. It seems more grown to me than using a credit card. I knew folks in high school with those, but only our parents had checkbooks.
It also feels grown to have a house, be married, and be living in a state where none of my family lives. It feels grown to be expected to bring food to family events. Kids just get to show up. |
planning a career move (not to be confused with looking for a job)
going on vacation with the girls |

One of my 7th graders asked me "[Meez Discreet], you listen to that old school music like Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, huh?"
