Inclusion, diversity -- and national sorority representatives will reportedly be on hand.

So does anyone know if any minorities have signed up? I hope if they have the media leaves them alone, they don't want to be on the 5 O'clock news, they just want to find a home like everyone going through recruitment does.

H! TItchou-- I wonder if we wrote for the same girl! :D

I also have one that should do well, another one that grades might be an issue and a third that well- as Titchou said, I wouldn't be sad at all if she should fall on her ungrateful face…

I have seen a few "diverse" young ladies in pictures on Instagram. I hope that everyone has a positive recruitment!

Okay I heard two funnies in conjunction with move in:

1) freshman looks around room as volunteers are bringing in her belongings and advises them that they need to move that "extra" bed out of her room. When enlightened that she will be sharing the room and that the "extra" bed is for said roommate, she exclaimed "What?????I have a roommate???"

2) Car pulls up in designated unloading spot. Mom hops out of front of car, opens back door and declares "The princess has arrived!!"

Sciencewoman 08-09-2014 07:00 PM

^^^ imagine the sparks that would fly if it turns out "Princess" is the extra bed roommate! I'd hate to be their RA!

I hope we hear if the little princesses got bids! I hope that we hear they don't pledge Pi Phi!

Silly question but with numbers over 2,000, about how many SRC/Rho Chi/Rho Gamma groups does UA Recruitment have? And how many Rho Gammas?!

catfan 08-09-2014 09:50 PM

My daughter graduated from Alabama this spring, and I have finally gotten around to cleaning out papers, invoices, and receipts from her college days. I added up the total cost of her sorority over 4 years. This includes 1 year of living in. She had a housing scholarship, so we had no housing expenses for 3 years. but we felt it was important to live in house at least one year, which she enjoyed. She had sisters as roommates 2 years, but it's not the same experience.
So here is the total if anyone cares to know:
Dues $10100
meals $11800 (this is equivalent to univ meal plan)
housing $5600
purchase fund $1000 approx.
Grand total $28,500

The prices for meals did creep up over 4 years, but the other expenses remained steady from year to year.

26 groups
I know some of the groups have around 80 to 85 members, so I'd assume there are at least 2 per group...possibly more.

I can only imagine how long it takes to sign pref cards, especially if girls need to talk before making a final decision!

:eek::eek:

Clemson has around 60 Pi Chis, and each one has their own group resulting in groups of roughly 18 girls each. I can't imagine getting to know each girl individually with that many girls in a group!

Griffins&Quills 08-09-2014 11:53 PM

My Pi Chi group had 10 girls and we were group #24. I don't remember how many more there were and obviously we had waaaay lower numbers going through than Bama, but still.

FSUZeta 08-10-2014 10:09 AM

I wonder why Bama doesn't have more Recruitment Counselors, thus more rush groups that are smaller? Several groups could be combined for party attendance so # of parties wouldn't have to be increased. Any idea Titchou or AnchorAlumna?

Titchou 08-10-2014 12:28 PM

The more groups, the more parties, the more hours/days it takes to accomplish all this. In other words, logistics.
