Recruitment begins in two hours at CU Boulder, and per a Facebook post from panhellenic, 1158 ladies have signed up. Panhellenic stated this is an all time record for enrollment. Cant wait for bid day to see how large new member classes will be! Go Buffs!

It is my daughters first time on the other side for recruitment. They have worked so hard. I am glad that recruitment is this weekend and not last. The floods would have made it challenging. . I can't wait to hear about the week for them. Bid day is on Wednesday

Quota at Kent this year is 71! Over 600 PNMs placed. To compare, quota was 17 or so when I graduated in 2006.

WVU alpha phi 09-23-2013 10:05 AM

According to a Rho Gamma's Twitter, WVU had 600+ girls register for recruitment this year. My last recruitment there was in fall 2006 and I believe we had around 350 go through that year. Glad to see Greek Life expanding at my alma mater!

I think quota was 55 but that hasn't been confirmed. Just going by what some pledge classes are reporting on Facebook and Twitter. :) If all 8 sororities met quota, that's 440 new ladies who joined the Greek system!

622 girls registered for recruitment at the University of Rhode Island, which is a school record.

Just to clarify, Quota was 69, not 71. There were also only 430 or so PNMs placed. We started with 660 and almost 200 withdrew or were released. We were supposed to start with 690, but 30 gals did not pay.

I'm Delta Zeta's membership advisor at Kent State so my numbers come straight from ICS. :)

Anyone know how Michigan went? I heard quota was 60+

I stand corrected! Those are pretty big numbers in comparison to past years (if you've been advising for awhile, you can probably attest to that!)

I wouldn't be surprised if they started looking into expansion again in the next 2-3 years.

Here's a link to the Stater's KSU Bid Day article, too!

(Yikes at some of the not-so-correct terminology being used!)

 I don't think we hit 300 when I was there. This makes me so so happy!

Article about this year's recruitment numbers at Tufts. 308 went through recruitment, up from 185 in 2012 (they didn't give 2013 numbers). The article also goes on to explain some of Tufts "guaranteed bid" process.

OPhiAGinger 02-08-2014 06:48 PM

So even with Tufts' much heralded "guaranteed placement" brand of recruitment, they still only placed 70% of the ones who started the process. Presumably the ones who didn't place either withdrew voluntarily or met one of the criteria described below.

Williams explained that there are other circumstances under which a bid is no longer guaranteed.

“If [girls] miss a party due to another commitment, [they] aren’t promised a bid,” Williams said. “We try not to hold it against them because it is a legitimate excuse, so they can still rank all parties they attend.”

Article from University of Chicago's newspaper. Title says that there has a 26% increase in Panhellenic numbers, but the article says 62% increase.

This year's increase (2014 over 2013) was 26%. The increase from 2011-2014 is 62 % :)

This is one of my favorite threads to read! Good luck to PNMs and sororities as this recruitment season kicks off for the 2015-16 year.
