Here's another report of road buckling in Michigan yesterday: "MDOT said the pavement was reading at 140 degrees and raised 1-foot off the ground due to the heat. Officials with MDOT said the cement under the asphalt got so hot that it heated up the freeway and they found weak spots at the seam of the road ultimately causing it to buckle."

I can't wait for the pot holes this winter!

But to get there, we're going to have some storms again.

Our limo from her apartment to Arnaldo's had no heat and it was a minute ride. They sent another while we cooled off inside so we didn't have time to get pics at Elizabeth Park. We did them at Heritage instead. While we waited for the bride and groom to take theirs, we sat in the shaded bridge with our dresses unzipped, shoes off, cooling off with a tiny hand fan. The guys had their jackets off and one of them had to almost take his whole shirt off cuz it was soaked. We were a complete sweaty mess by the ceremony but still looked great! lol

When it rains, it pours.

The good news - we are not in severe drought mode.

The bad news - FLOODING throughout the Houston area. More storms to come through this weekend.

FLOODING! http://www.khou.com/weather/houston-...162330346.html

bump

It is hotter in Michigan today than it is in Florida. We at least tied the record high for today and were just a couple degrees from the hottest day ever in Michigan. Ugh.

PM_Mama00 07-17-2012 07:34 PM

I'm pretty sure 75 south before 94 buckled. There was a large bump that I hit that wasn't there yesterday and I could see it was across the road.

Thank GOD for AC.

Yes, another midwesterner "I'm hot!" check-in.

People always tell me "You're from California. You should be used to this!"

What they don't realize is that where I'm from is 75 degrees in summer.

Midwestern summers are FAR hotter.

Just got home less than a half hour ago and it was still reading 95+ on the temp gauge in my car. This is crazy!

Wanna trade? I haven't seen the sun since June. It has been raining every single day, and it's just plain cold. I was wearing my winter coat and a scarf outside this week!

Mexico City is in the midst of a forty day, forty night rain. There's been a weeping rain-cloud displayed as its televised forecast every morning, for many days, when I watch the International Weather Report.

‎"WHILE NOT IMMEDIATELY LIKELY... IF A TORNADO IS SPOTTED... ACT QUICKLY AND MOVE TO A PLACE OF SAFETY IN A STURDY STRUCTURE..."

An excerpt from one of 6 severe weather warnings in my area (Massachusetts) an hour ago. Thanks, weather.com. I'm pretty sure I could figure out to run and hide myself if I saw a tornado coming at me. Yesterday it was reading 101 in my car on the way home from work, today the potential for tornadoes. So far just good cooling thunderstorms. :)

Severe storms sweeping across the Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and a wee bit part of Michigan... rough night for some folks.

Lollapalooza in Grant Park (Chicago) was evacuated this afternoon due to the storms. Getting people out of there had to be like hearding cats...

They have some pictures of that evacuation on the above link. Looked nuts. We just got a little thunder. No big deal here.

A huge tent at a festival collapsed due to a microburst. The tent had a few thousand people inside, no severe injuries fortunately.
