I couldn't help but laugh at this article in the Idaho Statesman. It mentions Bluorange State fans having so much tied up in the Donkeys that:
"Greg Mondin, a Boise psychologist and expert on sports psychology, says some fans have so much of themselves tied up in the Broncos they may lose perspective. "The root of this is the need to be attached to something successful," Mondin said. "People really want to be a part of it, and the hype makes the outcome feel more important. For some people, if they win, they'll take it to heart so much they'll feel like they played in the game and it's their accomplishment." And if they lose? "Where that gets unhealthy is if that's the only thing contributing to your self-image." To keep from sulking for days, calling in sick Tuesday, or lashing out at loved ones, Mondin suggested fans consider the big picture, including all the other good things in Idaho - the outdoors, family, good restaurants, an envied quality of life. "Those things don't change just because the team loses, but we could let ourselves feel that way," he said." Read more: http://www.idahostatesman.com/2010/0...#ixzz0z0xTxxML I'm glad to know the years we were consistently in the Bottom 10 and losing on the regular didn't cause me to be institutionalized or taking antidepressants. ETA: Our president, Duane Nellis, has a friendly wager with the Nebraska president as we have a game Saturday. It involves Nebraska beef and corn, and on our end Kobe beef and potatoes, obviously. There's also an interview with a tv station out of Spokane with Coach Akey, he cracks me up when he says re: Nebraska; I don't want to break y'all's hearts, but nobody is going to pick us to win this game, so we really can't screw it up. |
What do you call 48 people sitting around watching a bowl game?

Today is OSU vs OU. I'm cheering for the Bobcats! |
Read this in the local paper's "Soundoff" section and thought it was cute.
You could also change the fan to any team, lol. What does a Tiger fan do after Auburn wins the national championsip? Turn off the Playstation 3. ;) Gooooo Clemson Tigers! And Georgia Bulldawgs and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (Oh and Atlanta Braves baseball!):D |
Okay this is cool....I posted on an Alpha Gam's fb about an Atlanta radio station wanting Lambuth hats and jerseys (a week after they beat Georgia State). I didn't know her hubby was President of Lambuth!!

Awesome job this weekend Coach Dantonio. You made a very bold call and it paid off for Michigan State. We are saddened by the heart attack that you had after the game and even us Michigan fans are praying for a quick recovery.
So Go Blue! and Go Green! Go White! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNdCb...layer_embedded Just in case you missed what is bound to be the best play in college football this season during the MSU-Notre Dame game :) Shortly after the game, the coach, 54-year-old MARK DANTONIO, suffered a HEART ATTACK.He was rushed to a hospital in Lansing, Michigan, where doctors found a vessel to his heart was closed, and used a stent to re-open it.He's still in the hospital, and there's no word on when he might return to the team . . . so their offensive coordinator is taking over as interim head coach while he recovers. |
