Are the chapters logistically prepared to handle classes of that size?
Ex: enough chapter room seating and stuff? Adding an extra 100 folks to about 200 or so is a whole lot. |
Ah.. that is "another whole kettle of fish" as my grandfather used to say!
The houses at Arkansas are maxed out in capacity and amenities in all aspects except for AOPi's beautiful new house that I am sure was built to accomodate large groups plus contains all of the wiring, plumbing, etc that is called for in the 21st century. The age of the houses coupled with the growth of Greek life over the past 25 years has most of the chapters realizing that major chapter remodels/renovations/additions are on the horizon. I would say we will see teardown/re-builds on this campus in the next 5 -10 years similar to what is happening on SMU's campus in Texas. I know the Kappas are seriously considering such a project. |
The AOII adviser just told me quota was 101, yesterday an Arkansas active told me 102. I wonder if it was a quota range again?

It's a question that I asked earlier... We know that at least 5 houses took over 100 girls. Presumably at least 7 houses did. Did the other house that I dare not mention continue to stay low thus dragging it down? Could it work that way? I'm way too far off in the other lane. |

These same rumors plagued the Sigma Nu house, but so far nothing has come from it. It's building on a hill that's never a good idea. |

I think you're thinking of it as an average. |

Anyone who had that certain special sororities number, PM it to me. I hope they didn't get the same amount they got last year. |
Elephant Walk, although quota is traditionally described as the number of PNMs divided by the number of chapters, that's not strictly the case. Because bid matching is done by computer programs, quota can be adjusted up or down to to balance the number of women placed with the number of chapters making quota. Several scenarios will be run in the program and the one with the best outcome will be chosen. These are extreme examples, but I think it illustrates the point: Quota could be 200, and every PNM could get her first choice, but almost no one would make quota. Quota could be 50 and every chapter could make quota per se but there would be many unmatched women and then there is always the question of where the quota additions end up. This is called a quota range.

fsu's zta chapter has 59 new members. have not found out what quota was yet.
|
University of Arizona ADPi just took 79 new Alphas. Don't know what quota was.
|
University of Nebraska-Omaha? Does anybody know what quota was? I hear that AXiD got 32, but I dont know if that's accurate.
|
That seems high for UNO, but great news if it's accurate! That sounds more like UNL.
|
sorry, correcting myself, it appears from their website Alpha Xi Delta at UN-Omaha pledged 27, so their Greek system has grown in the last bazillion years. HA! Don't know what quota was or how the other chapters did.

The kappas are just concerned with trying to provide the best possible living environment for their membership - those housed as well as unhoused. This is the big problem for all chapters on campus. |
