Finally heard from "Cassie" She went to 8 parties today, and will go to 4 tomorrow. She enjoyed today much more than the first round and felt like she got to know the groups much better.
Her top 3 so far are Cookies and Cream, Cake Batter, and Chocolate. Chocolate may be her top choice, and she felt that she made really strong connections there with several girls. The girls in chocolate stayed with her almost the whole party and brought others over to meet her. She also felt that it was positive that they talked about lots of outside interests, and not just sorority things. She was able to connect with a friend she made at Camp War Eagle, and it turns out that the friend likes Chocolate too and has a sister in that group. She still feels that there are 7 or 8 places she could be happy. She said that most of the girls from her high school had a full schedule too although quite a few were cut from one of the "top" sororities, which surprised her because they are very outgoing girls and have strong grades. Almost all of the girls in her Pi Chi group, however, did not have full schedules. Her Pi Chi cautioned her not to brag ,(which she of course knew not to do) and the Pi Chi did not reveal the fact that Cassie had 12 parties. The only negative is that she is losing her voice. She says the parties are very loud and you basically have to scream the whole time to be heard. Thanks for letting me ramble and share. My husband is tired of hearing about it after about 30 seconds. |
Loving the updates!
And good luck to all the ladies for the rest of recruitment! |

Day 3 - Final Update
Just finished talking to "Emma".
One of the first things she said was "This is going to be so hard!" in reference to prioritizing her choices tomorrow after the second round. She feels like her brain is on "overload" with names and faces and information she has learned about the various groups over the last few days. Using the 1-10 rating system has helped, but she still has rated the groups fairly close together. She spent a lot of time going over the philanthropy of each group, and discussing which group's philanthropy she liked the most, and which ones she didn't feel as attracted to, so it is apparent that this will be important to her in making her choices. Her Pi Chi group seemed to fare pretty well as far as cuts go, but she did hear stories of heavy cuts in some of the other Pi Chi groups. She's been drinking a lot of water thoughout the week to combat the heat. When her Pi Chi group went to dinner and the waitress asked her for her drink order, all she could think of was "Anything but water!". Each girl in the Pi Chi group has their own schedule so each girl has to make sure to attend her parties in a punctual fashion. Emma heard a story about one PNM in another group who had a break and went back to her dorm to take a nap, and ended up missing one of her parties. Apparently, this results in an automatic cut. Today she liked the Blue Jays, Angels, Cubs, and Dodgers the most. She will visit the Diamondbacks and some of her more favorite groups tomorrow. She is very tired and will head to bed early tonight, which is very unusual for such a night owl. |

and wondering how their parties went that day. :D :) ;) |
One more thing...Emma said that the PNM's will only be allowed to attend 6 parties for Skit Day. Can anyone confirm? Also, at Auburn, which round is quota based on?

So excited for Emma and Cassie, and yes it is tough. I spoke to " Suzie's" mom today, she said she hasn't seen her go to bed this early except when she's been sick..... she must be pretty wiped out. Auburn Dad, Suzie also mentioned how tough today was, she liked so many of the houses and said it felt more relaxed than Ice water teas. While she has been taking notes , I suggested she bullet point specifics, with names vs writing narratives to herself. It really helps later when trying to make decisions. Suzie had 9 houses today with 3 tomorrow. Thank you so much for sharing. Sounds like Cassie is also having a great time , glad she has her favs and the face she likes so many chapters. Ahhhhh recruitment!:D |

I will tell you it works well for all chapters. It's been a great addition to the recruitment process. |

So glad to hear that Emma, Cassie and Suzie are having a good time. And don't worry about rambling, we all love these recruitment stories.
Just a quick aside to Cassie's Mom, my daughter had a similar roommate experience her freshman year-2008. She thought she would just stick it out but problems continued to escalate from day one until about two months into the year, she returned to her room in the middle of the day and found her roommate and bf in her bed, if you can believe it. Needless to say we moved into another room right away. I would say to move sooner rather than later. We found the staff at Auburn hosing to be very caring and helpful. Happy recruitment to all and War Eagle! |
