What an idiot.

Thank you, lovespink88, I am currently a sorority member at the University of Florida and currently hold a position on Panhellenic Council.

I know what I'm saying, and I'm not critisizing.
I'm merely hoping that the OP will keep herself open to the 15 other soroities and their women during Recruitment this coming Fall.

If any other future Gator Rushies have questions I am more than willing to answer.

^^No matter how hard you try UFgatorLove there will ALWAYS be those young ladies that will never listen and will not keep their options open. They just do not care how much you may know and what position you hold etc.

Good Luck this recruitment season.

Go Gators!

Honestly, as a fellow Greek Gator, I don't really care if the OP "keeps her mind open" to other houses. I agree that it's stupid and foolish of her, yes, but I doubt that any of us will change her mind on the subject. To be blunt, I don't want one the spots in my chapter being taken by someone who will be bitter, unpleasant and probably end up dropping.

Oh, I agree with you. If I figure out who she is, our doors are closed to her - and the likes of her, as well. We send away the ones who are like this "over" us (that sounds weird to say) several times during recruitment.

But, I still want to try to give her usefull advice as much as I possibly can

Wow. This is one of the rudest things I've ever read! I'm an active at a smaller school (about 2000) and a girl was dropped from her legacy house during last year's recruitment. Her sister is an active and held a pretty high position within the house. If it can happen at a small school where there are far fewer legacies, I'm convinced it happens at larger school. I was going to wish you luck after reading your first post because I know how exciting it would be to have the chance to share that with your family. I've changed my mind since seeing how disrespectful and rude you were to a Panhellenic member from your school offering you advice!

This thread makes me sad and sick at the same time. I was a UF student back in the day and I hate to admit it, but year after year there were numerous girls just like this one. There must be something in the water. Some do get exactly what they want and will never learn. Some do take a huge fall though. ( just not sure what they even learn from their fall -- it is in the attitude and some can't shake it for the life of them )

It's really, really frustrating to see. I rushed a girl last year who spent the whole party telling me how she was going to XYZ because her sister was one. In addition to the fact that PNMS have NO control over whether houses ask them back or not, it is so incredibly rude to come into another chapter and act like this. And at UF, most girls coming through are a legacy to some chapter or another. It doesn't make you that special.

But really, to the OP, I wish you the best with recruitment. I just hope you aren't in my house.

Not just at UF, but even at less competitive schools like USF, apparently this happens almost every year and it's sad to hear. I don't think I would have the guts to be so rude in some other org's house.

That's because you aren't a wretched person :)

Both my sisters had the same view as me going into rush and it worked out for them. All my eggs are not in "one basket" but like applying to college you usually have a favorite. My families house is my top choice and I would be overjoyed to get it. If I don't I'll join another house and make the best of it.

Also I have no intention of treating other chapters poorly I've met and know girls in most chapters on campus I don't think poor about them but I would prefer to go where my legacy is.

Oh, the temptation here.

Things have shaken up a bit in hogtown since your Mom was on campus,

I'm willing to bet that there was a different top three when your Mom was there. In fact I KNOW there was a different top three down there when I was in college.

Word of advice. You better go in your legacy house and act very, very humble. And keep these kinds of statements to yourself at all times when around your rush group and your Rho Chi. You could end up in trouble. And you should also prepare yourself to get cut by this house's main competitors.
They'll cut you because they figure you're going to pledge your legacy and therefore why waste the invitation?

Unfortunately, that wouldn't be much of a secret.

OK, I call BS. Little freshmen just don't talk like that on a message board about rushing.

Either that or you're from Miami.
