Unfortunately in Alabama there was a high school "sorority" that copied my sorority's colors and had a very similar name: Alpha Kappa Kappalettes. There was a loooooot of drama surrouding that group.

Hey, is anyone who's been in a high school fraternity or sorority interested in talking about it? I'd love to do an interview over the phone, especially if you're in the Chicago area. You can find my contact info at http://www.myfoxchicago.com/dpp/abou...ark_Saxenmeyer.

I refuse to believe someone employed in the news-media industry would solicit interviews on a message board. What is this world coming to?

Why focus on high school "sororities" and "fraternities" when there are alum groups in Chicago full of real Greeks that do great things??

Well, it's 2010 and it's a PUBLIC forum. Try reading your own tag line...it's not that serious, it's Greek Chat. And if I can bring notice to teens getting hazed and hurt because of these groups then isn't it for a good cause?? Try asking before judging.

Yeah, like not serious enough to be a credible journalistic resource...

We got a tip of concern from a parent about high school students imitating these groups but using crazy hazing practices. I'm trying to get more info and bring this practice to light. I would think this would be of concern for legitimate Greek organizations sine it's not the message you try to promote. Any info that can be passed along would be helpful. Thanks.

Maybe try the school in question. Is it like your first day as a reporter or something?

This is no news to any of us. News flash hazing happens all the time, but the only time it is every reported is when it involves us. It pisses me off so much.

You're right, that is important. I can't believe other GCers are being so cavalier about this issue. I'll do an interview with you over the phone, call me when you get this. 312-563-9631

x2'd, but-

This doesn't even involve anyone in a legitimate Greek organization unless the sorority/fraternity at the school is using a Greek name. Just because kids can access the internet to figure out the Greek alphabet and come up with a catchy sounding name doesn't associate them with us.
Saxenmeyer, call the school, not us. Unless you want to tell us the name of this organization and it happens to be the same as an established sorority/fraternity, we have no reason to discuss this further.

Oh I know, but most people would probably associate the wannabes with legitimate Greek organizations.
