ETA: I am watching the news right now, and I cannot STAND the phrase "GUNNED DOWN." Horrible!

I'm still pretty new to this education thing so I'm sure it's just the fact that I haven't come across it yet ;) I also hate when they talk about teaching to standards. It just makes me so sad.

Bumping this thread for the "word" preggo...or preggers.....any variation of the word "pregnant". ESPECIALLY when it's used in facebook statuses like this:

What about knocked up?

Transparancy and Anecdotal. Two buzzwords I am so tired of hearing.

Not my favorite term but it doesn't make me cringe. When I hear "knocked up" I do think accidental, illegitimate child, though.

I prefer pregnant, expecting, or even "with child".

For humor, here are my contexts in which I think of each term:

"OH man. Just found out I'm knocked up! Don't know WTF I'm gonna do! OH NO!"

"Ah yes, husband and I are expecting. What a beautiful addition."

I hate when people use the word "thongs" instead of "sandals."

"I'm a princess."--if you have to tell people that, you are not.

"boi"

"bros before hoes"- If you can't find a way to tell me that I should rate you higher than my SO without calling her a ho, you may want to consider why said "ho" is put before you on my priorities.

"I'm drunk"- yes, that was apparent when you vomited into the trashcan. You really don't need to announce it.

That word cost a guy his job where I work. He had been with the company several years. He used that word referring to and spoken to the females at work. He claimed that he didn't know that it was offensive to women.

I instantly lose all respect for any person who says the c word or any variation of the n word. Ugh. There's no use for it, no reason to call anyone any of those words.

We used the word "thongs" for any flip-flop type of shoe in New England, too.

My newest verbal/written pet peeve - people who post philosophical quotes in their Facebook updates. Usually these people exist on the other end of the spectrum that their "message" occupies.
