I thought CH's collection was beautiful, regardless of the lack of cohesiveness. I would love to wear some of Althea's clothes. The only thing I would have worn from Irina's would have been the coats.

Well, if nothing else, the world witnessed Irina's behavior and her lack of respect for others. With her being such a primadonna, it will be like the trouble Kenley had getting ahead. No one liked her; nobody wanted to work with her.

DrPhil 11-20-2009 10:49 AM

I was so shocked and pissed that CH didn't win.

Her clothes must've been too wearable and not ridiculously high fashion for them.

I think she has a bright career ahead of her.

Leslie Anne 11-20-2009 11:59 AM

I didn't like anyone's collection. There were a few nice pieces here and there but overall I thought most of the pieces were fugly. Despite Irina's bad attitude, I liked her creations the most throughout the season so I think the best designer won.

ASUADPi 11-20-2009 01:01 PM

I had a feeling that Irina would win and it pissed me off.

But eventually she is going to accuse someone "more powerful" than her of "stealing". She did it again, under her breath to Althea. Hello, unless the other two designers were with the makeup dude when one was saying what she wanted her models to look like, how the hell could Althea "steal" Irina's makeup

I'm sorry Irina is just a bitch, no nice way to put it. This show showed her attitude and how she thinks her crap doesn't stink. People (models, managment agencies, other designers) aren't going to want to put up with that attitude.

I would love to see Carol Hannah and Althea become more successful than Irina. That would just be icing on the cake. LOL.

My thoughts:

I think the judges were looking to see whose stuff was the most like an actual cohesive collection.

As much as I didn't personally like Irina's collection for myself (although I did like the sweaters and coats), I think it was the most cohesive of the 3.

I think the issue that the judges had with Carol Hanna is that while she had some great stuff (loved her dresses), there wasn't alot of unity and it didn't feel like a collection.

Althea's collection was probably my FAVORITE (I want that green dress). It was just as unified as Irina's in my opinion, but I think the judges thought it was too wearable. They were looking for something more editorial-like than an entire line of sportswear.

I love how Irina was already busted for copyright infringement and then went and did it again but copying NY Magazine's list of Reasons to Love NY word for word.

Nice one.

Wow. Totally didn't know about this (but I don't read NY Mag anyway).

I noticed she did a similar t-shirt design for her replacement and wondered whether that, too, was a copyright issue. Apparently the judges didn't care much about that? I would've thought they'd address it on the air, considering how much they love added drama.

It's funny that it's cast off as being too wearable, considering that Michael Kors sells clothes at Macy's... apparently even he has to settle for wearable to pay the bills!

I like Carol Hannah but wasn't a fan of her collection, other than the teal dress. Irina appears to put out well-constructed garments but that was a lot of black, and she's just a b*tch. OMG smudged eyeshadow, how could anyone else ever think of that?? I was rooting for Althea, due to the variety and wearability. Since it came down to the showmanship & cohesiveness, I guess the big show matters more than the sellability of the collection.

It must be a relief for all the designers involved to finally have the finale aired. They really got screwed in the network battle delay.

I loved CH's dresses and agree that if she had been more cohesive, told a story, she would have won.

I predicted Irina would win (patting myself on the back, here) and truthfully, her collection was the most finished. The hats, the bags, etc really gave her presentation polish and style. I thought the black was blah, and the leather dominatrix stuff was overpowering, but she was going for haute couture and that is what a lot of that stuff looks like (read:unwearable). I liked the sweaters and coats, though.

I liked Althea's least of all.

And, although I do think Irina is a beotch, I have to concede that it is very likely that editing played a role in what we think about her. I am pretty sure that all three had their bitchy moments. Besides, I can stand bitchiness much longer than CH's constant giggling and shoulder shrugging.

LeslieAGD 11-20-2009 07:31 PM

I thought the very best piece out of all three collections was Carol Hannah's first look.

Are you talking when Tim called and told her that she had to redo her shirts?

Andy and I were thinking the same thing.

I could see Carol Hannah's collection at Nordstrom's.

Dumb Question, but ...

Since this was the first season that I ever saw of Project Runway, I have a read a lot of the reviews of the program. Was the sixth season so bad? Hey, it aint great television, but there is a lot more dreck out their.

Did setting the show in Los Angeles make that much of a difference?

I must admit none of the judges really impressed me.

To be honest, my tastes are pretty traditional. So someone like Gordana impressed me more than some of the "edgy" stuff.

Leslie Anne 12-21-2009 12:12 AM

Not a dumb question at all. It wasn't an awful season it was just kind of lackluster. The contestants are usually more interesting. All we had this season was a snob and an incessant cryer.

They tried to make the difference in location a non-issue but you just can't beat New York for creative energy. Location also affected the available judges. Usually it's Heidi, Nina Garcia and Michael Kors (with an occassional alternate) and they're all solid.

I'd highly recommend watching the next season starting in January. They're back in New York and I'm hoping for a great show. I'm pretty traditional too but in past years I've always been wowed by more than one designer.
