Boiled calamari or slightly steamed is better for you. :)

Maybe, but it doesn't taste as good :)

Calamari was a Christmas Eve tradition in my Sicilian grandmother's household (seafood is a big thing on Christmas Eve for Sicilians). I loved it until, around age 10 or 11, one of my cousins told me what it was. I refused to eat it again until I was an adult and recognized that eating squid was not a bad thing.

There are restaurants that make excellent nonfried calamari. :)

I rarely eat fried calamari these days because I like to reserve my rarely eaten fried food for something like fried fish or fried chicken. A lot of restaurants put more "fried" than calamari in the dish. I do not want my calamari lost in the fried. Give me steamed. :D

Shellfish and chicken are about the only thing I eat that's deep fried. I do fry my pork chops in canola oil, lightly breaded in Italian seasoned bread crumbs, but only have those about once a month. Shellfish is a rare treat for me these days. It is just too pricey. Hypo usually gets calamari at her birthday dinner. We did get a calamari appetizer at dinner the night of her graduation, when my dad was footing the bill! I ate some deep fried shell fish while traveling to Hilton Head two weeks ago for work. Generally, I'll eat fried stuff about 4 times a month.

This is actually sad, but apparently the zoo in Duluth, MN was flooded (they're having a once in a 100 year flood there) and a polar bear and two seals escaped. They found one of the seals on a road...poor thing!

Actually, it wasn't just the zoo, it was most of Duluth. Didn't hear about the seals, but the polar bear I have heard. Unfortunately, some of the animals drowned in the flood, including most of the farmyard animals.

Yoga teacher fired over cell phone ban

http://www.sfgate.com/technology/art...ok-3694293.php

This teacher was contracted to teach at both Facebook and Cisco, and was fired for asking people to not use their smart phones during the work sponsored classes. I'm a trained yoga instructor, and not only would a phone on or near a mat be a safety hazard, it would detract from the other people who are actually practicing yoga, and the person at Cisco who was taking pictures would be shut down so fast in any class I've been to, or I'd teach.

KPD investigators went to campus Saturday morning and found several other people, including three men, passed out at the Pi Kappa Alpha ("Pike") house.

After conducting several interviews, investigators determined the fraternity members had used rubber tubing to give each other alcohol enemas. Police said the practice heightens and speeds up the process of alcohol entering the blood stream because it bypasses the liver's filters.
