Wonder why? ;) No, not really but we'll take all the support we can get!

Another nail biter and great effort by my boys...considering Colt was only in for two snaps. Luckily #2 was ready. Save Colt for next week when the bastards from Boise State come to town.

Ice this, Nevada. It's nice to be 10-0.

I obviously didn't stay awake long enough for this game, but I am sorry to see your boy Colt is hurt.

NutBrnHair 11-17-2007 01:17 PM

It's been a very frustrating year for Tennessee Vols fans. Can we pleeeeeeez just win two more?

Dude, did you guys see highlights of Colt's collision last week? You could literally hear a pin drop in the stadium. He didn't get up for a good five minutes. He was ready to play last night, but I'm glad June Jones decided to keep him out. Good call. I just about cried when Kelly made that field goal, despite the 2 timeouts Nevada called to try to ice him out. Please. Kelly's that good.

I tried to sleep in this morning, but that was impossible. The boy's a Michigan alumnus...which means 7am wake up for us in Hawaii. :(

jojapeach 11-17-2007 06:51 PM

^^^ Obviously we get haters everywhere... :P But my Dawgs made it happen at home on Senior Day. GOOOOOOO DAWGS!!!

But D@MN IT, Vandy! I had faith in y'all, and look where it got me. How did y'all just fall to pieces and let those awful Volunteers win by one point? I know it was a 49 yard attempt, but d@mn! Now, I'm suddenly a UK Wildcats fan...but one week only. ;)

NutBrnHair 11-17-2007 06:56 PM

Ummm, all I can say is...

GO VOLS!

jojapeach 11-17-2007 07:02 PM

Yes, Vols. GO AWAY! ;)

At least you didn't wake up at 5am to go tailgating, only to get rained on and end up watching half the game at the nearby bowling alley.

Boo.

AGDLynn 11-17-2007 10:04 PM

GO WILDCATS!

AWESOME WIN, DAWGS!!

Going to visit inlaws so they better have the Ga-Ga Tech game on! And that they have split screen tv so I can watch (oh pleaaaaaaaaaassssse) UK beat UT.

jojapeach 11-17-2007 10:48 PM

LOL @ NutBrnHair. Good one.

That would work if it was Florida in Georgia's position. I'll only cheer for UF for the sake of being able to say the SEC is always the best. That's the only exception.

Rather late with updates today.

ISUKappa 11-18-2007 08:02 PM

It seriously makes me LOL (in a good way) that two Big XII North teams are 2 and 3. And one of them is Kansas. Not like I have any room to talk, but, Kansas!

TonyB06 11-19-2007 10:31 AM

A So-so season, loss to Illinois probably ended championship dreams.....

....but a 14-3 beating of Michigan, in the big House, always makes it a great season!

Go Buckeyes!!

if anybody sees NiaX and jojapeach, tell em' I'm lookin' for em.

Kevin 11-19-2007 11:17 AM

Either KU or MU in the NC game would be huge for the Big XII. I think this year, either of them could win it all.

LSU isn't unbeatable and there's a pretty good chance it'll be WVU instead of LSU.

-- and WVU hasn't seen anything remotely close to KU or MU yet.

I'm sorry my Spartans couldn't help you guys out with that, but we had our own agenda :) It was a good game IMO though!

SthrnZeta 11-19-2007 12:19 PM

I just want TN to lose next weekend and UGA will go the SEC. That's not too much to ask is it??!! I can't believe how f***ing close that game was!!! ARGH! It sucks that UGA isn't in control of it's SEC Championship destiny at this point, it all rides on KY...

And they'll be playing an extra game for the SEC championship. They'll go to the NC for the same reasons Florida did last year: playing a nightmare schedule and coming out with only one loss.

I agree, WVU hasn't seen anything remotely close to Kansas or Missouri yet- which is why they won't jump LSU for a spot in the NC.

The inference was (and I guess I was unclear) is that I don't think LSU is going to win the SEC championship.

I think KU/MU vs. WVU is the NC game.

Ummm, aren't you forgetting the drumming Tennessee gave Georgia on October 6th?

GO VOLS!!!

MsDGP007 11-19-2007 01:16 PM

I am so thrilled that WVU is ranked above all of the Florida schools this year. Darn, why couldn't they have been this good when I was going to school there!

SthrnZeta 11-19-2007 02:47 PM

All TN has to do is lose to KY and they won't go. That's pretty major...

Go DAWGS!

and quite possible! It's been a rocky (pun intended) road for Vols fans this season, but our team DID look good against UGA, so it shouldn't be a surprise that your Dawgs aren't sailing into the championship game.

SthrnZeta 11-19-2007 03:06 PM

Let's not forget that UGA beat FL this year, TN did not, and KY beat the number one ranked team in the nation, LSU. UGA has a VERY good chance of going to the SEC....

I posted it as a sports/news story.
There does seem to be, as per other stories, some "intrigue" over where he is going and who will replace him.

I still don't understand why people are being so hard on Loyd. I'm not familiar with Bo's records but I read somewhere that he, too, lost to OSU 4 years straight in a row.

Actually, I love Lloyd Carr and I went to OSU. His interviews are priceless!
Best of luck to him.

Thank you. The trophy for the Kentucky / Tennessee football game was The Beer Barrel. It was a blue, white and orange beer keg. The game was often referred to as the Battle for the Beer Barrel.

http://photos.kentuckycheerleading.o...serialNumber=2

I can't believe I had to go there to find the write up, but I found this at the Tennessee Athletic site. (I now need a shower.)

Quote:

"The original Battle for the Beer Barrel was conceived in 1925 by a Kentucky booster club for the football rivalry with Tennessee, so that the series would have a trophy similar to Purdue’s Old Oaken Bucket and Michigan’s Little Brown Jug. The first game played kept the barrel in Lexington, a 23-20 win for the Wildcats. The barrel exchanged hands numerous times, both at games and during raids on the opposing school’s campus. Tennessee held a 60-23-9 edge in the series with Kentucky when the Beer Barrel trophy game was discontinued due to the tragic deaths of several Kentucky football players in 1997 in an alcohol-related car crash."
GO BIG BLUE!
