My .08 cents...

I think that Monica is looking very good post-baby. I think she's starting to show more maturity and stye.

Fantasia looks a hot mess. What is she up to these days? Is she working on another album?

I was just saying that Kanye should take a break. He's talented, but his attitude is getting in the way of that.

Did anyone see Mary J on the Tyra show last week? She looks really good. KCi is just hating because he can't get any time in the spotlight.

but you know, i don't think her MUSIC shows any maturity--more like regression

AKA2D '91 11-18-2006 02:08 PM

True.
At one point, she had matured, but I guess to keep up with the youngin's, you have to act, do and say as they do.

I think with this album Monica is showing even more of her "hood" attitude that she has in previous albums. But it's not selling records right now.

Taisa is suppose to come out with a new one next month (last I heard).

RedefinedDiva 11-18-2006 03:36 PM

It's time for Monica to grow up. All these roughneck, thug life, ghetto girl, it's-all-good-in-the-hood songs do not appeal to the masses. Maybe she should try rapping because that's what her songs are--harmonic and melodious raps. She needs to step up her game.

jitterbug13 11-18-2006 09:31 PM

^^^^
We are >>>here<<<. :D

And Monica spent most of her time growing up in the 'burbs. It was her dad and her boyfriends who drew her to the 'hood.

I think her songs would be more belivable if someone like Keysha (who grew up in the hood) sang them.

No, you're not.

If you all EVA need a GREAT laugh, at least watch Meet the Browns. That's my FAVORITE one.

I'm not eager to go out and get Monica's current release. I still bump the 2003 release.

FAntasia currently has a single out called "Hood Boy."

Really? I own it but never made it past the first 20 minutes. Maybe I will try again this weekend.

So very true.
Monica and "hood" don't make the best match.

I wish 'tasia would fire her stylist.

Get real, there is no way in hell this girl could have a stylist....cuz if she does, I agree the person needs to be fired.

Wasn't Fanny about to open a hair salon in Atlanta? I hope she's not trying to do any marketing...

It's supposed to open in Concord which is in Cabarrus County, neighboring city and county to Charlotte, NC/Mecklenburg County.

I wish Fanny wore longer, softer hair. Her features need a bit of feminizing. She's got the voice. She should tighten up her image.

LANSING -- The first thing a working woman who suddenly comes into a little money knows is that you pay the bills first and, if there's anything left over, you buy something nice for yourself.
So, the first thing 48-year-old Loretta Brown of Detroit said she would do after leaving the Michigan Lottery office in Lansing on Thursday with a multimillion-dollar check is catch up on the bills.
"The first place that I am going to go?" Brown said, repeating a reporter's question during a brief afternoon news conference. "DTE Energy. I'm going to pay my gas bill, my light bill. I'm going to pay Sprint."
Brown won Tuesday's $75-million Mega Millions jackpot. Lottery commissioner Gary Peters said Brown chose a lump-sum payment of $44.6 million; 28.9% of it will be withheld for taxes, leaving Brown with about $32 million.
Brown said she and her family had not made other plans beyond taking a trip next week. Her family includes her husband, a new-car prep manager for an auto dealer, and two adult sons -- none of whom she would name for security reasons.
"Right now, we're living in very critical, dangerous times, so the less exposure," the better, Brown said.

I love seeing regular people win the lottery. She is a VERY smart woman paying her bills first and keeping her family members' names out of the paper.

I feel good. It was actually a black woman, from Detroit and not "Tom" from no name, Michigan who won $75 Million? There is hope for me yet. I got next!!!

I agree. This "hood" image is not working for her.

ChanelLover 11-20-2006 01:24 PM

Kramer said what??? First Kanye calls bi-racial women "mutts" in Essence. Then he says he loves "mutts" because what else would they use for videos. And now Kramer--the dude from Seinfeld--has gone and lost his damn mind on stage at the Laugh Factory this weekend. He went on a 3 minute tirade before leaving the stage calling the black people who were supposedly heckling him "nigger" and racial slurs about slavery. Yes, he was serious. The thing I'm more mad about is the few people in the audience who were finding this ish hilarious. Check the video here. Damn shame.

www.ybf.blogspot.com

The video is here: http://us.video.aol.com/video.index....pmmsid=1772645

Little32 11-20-2006 02:53 PM

If you go to websites where the video is posted, it is telling, how many people come out supporting him. I am so over people who enjoy privilege based on their race telling people who have endure oppression because of their race to get over it--and then claiming not to be racist. I AM SO OVER IT. If you are a bigot, at least claim it. Do go around spouting racist and bigoted beliefs and then try to claim that you are otherwise.

Down with Michael Richards. There is no apology that makes up for this.

laylo 11-20-2006 03:28 PM

He performed at the same club the very next night! Shouting racial slurs at your customers isn't enough to get him fired???

MsSweetness 11-20-2006 05:37 PM

Personally I'm glad he said it, b/c now I know his true colors. I'd rather him be honest about how he feels than be a closet racist. At least we know what to expect from him now. I can't imagine being in that audience though

OK....I just saw what he said. It was on the news. I encourage everyone to try and find a clip. There is one on youtube but you have to log in or sign up due to the content of the clip. He was enraged in the clip:eek: It's just disgusting. He was pointing and saying "He's a ni**ger!!"

ETA: Go to www.tmz.com and scroll down a little. They have it there.

teena 11-21-2006 12:28 AM

He was on letterman apo-la-lying.
I think it wonderful when people with a certain level of celebrity have a break from reality and say what is really on their minds, just like Mel Gibson. Can you imagine how many blacks supported his career? This is the best. Now he will get to see how n*****s will respond to his foolishness.

Yeah, I'm surprised he didn't get jumped afterwards. He's washed up...unfortunately "we" can't really "hurt" him in any way. Mel Gibson going off on Jews and dude going off on Black folks are two different things.

Y'all know what I mean...he apologized and said that he took the heckling personal, which translates into "this is really how I PERSONALLY feel about Black folks..."

I agree. Mel Gibson's comments may be viewed as slurs. It's open for interpretation. According to sources, he said that "Jews are responsible for the wars in the world" and asked the officer if s/he was a Jew. One may or may not take offense to those statements. Though I am NOT excusing what he said, it's open to interpretation as to whatever the comments were inflammatory.

However, in the case of "Kramer," he was sober, in what appeared to be his right state of mind, and decided to go on a tirade! He REPEATEDLY referred to these particular audience members as the n-word, made references to lynching, made statements that would imply that he KNEW what he was saying and that it was WRONG. He even continued with his tirade after he heard/saw the audience's reaction.

He can keep his raggedy apology. But, since he was only talking about black folks, I'm sure his fan base will go for the okey-doke and welcome him back with open arms. Isn't that how it always is?

delph998 11-21-2006 01:39 AM

Some things will never change. We will always be the N word to somebody.

lovelyivy84 11-21-2006 11:40 AM

His apology wasn't for black folks, point blank. We were not part of his fan base to begin with, and really there's no way to apologize for something that appears to just be your mindset.

His apology, IMO, was so that all his white and jewish fans can feel better about liking him again. SInce folks were actively laughing in the audience while he was saying it, I think it'll probably work out just fine for him.

you hit the hammer on the head!

southernelle25 11-21-2006 11:46 AM

His Jewish fans need to think carefully before accepting him back. In my experience, the people who hold these feelings toward blacks tend to hold worse feelings toward Jews; where there is disregard for the pain and suffering of black folk, there is pure hatred for the very existence of Jews.
