Congratulations!!!! Is ADPi still in East? I know Sigma Kappa finally moved down to Pollock, but wasn't sure if anyone else moved. Ya'll and us had the biggest suites on campus until we moved. I always like your suite when I was there. Have fun, the PSU greek community can't be beat! Just wait til THON!

Congratulations to you and ADPi! This was a really fun thread. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us, and enjoy your new member period!

No one moved to East; it's still ADPi, Tri-Sigma, and DZ up there. I believe Sigma Kappa took the old AGD suite (in Ritner).

One thing that I was surprised to see during recruitment was that there are a bunch of empty suites (or so it seemed) in some of the Pollock and South dorms for BGLOs (which I found interesting, as I never knew they had suites) and deactivated chapters. I could have sworn I saw a DphiE suite, but I don't think they ever had a chapter here (perhaps I saw DST instead... who knows).

Anyway, from the "tent talk" in my Pi Chi group, the groups in East were definitely at a disadvantage of some sort. When girls were figuring out who to cut, the thought of a hike to East for the next four years wasn't too appealing. I've heard rumors of some of the East sororities moving down to the southern part of campus, but like PSUSigKap mentioned, East does have some pretty awesome suites.

Also, I thought this was a funny coincidence--my good friend actually preffed the same 3 sororities that you did and ranked them all in the EXACT same order *AND* got her second choice, like you did, which was ADPi...and she absolutely *LOVES* it and wouldn't want it any other way-she fits in perfectly and is completely obsessed--I'm sure you will experience the same thing.

Question About Suites
 

Not to hijack the thread, but could someone explain what the suites are that are mentioned? I know sororities have sorority houses at some colleges, dorm floors at others, but how do the suites work? Thanks.

a suite is a room on the first floor of the dorms. the sororities live on a one of the floors of the dorm and they lease a suite from the university. They are all different sizes. Most are a large room with a kitchen and some sort of closet. Sigma Kappa's before we moved to Pollock had a bathroom and shower in ours. The sororities decorate and have a tv, couches, desks and other stuff. It's mostly a place to hang out or study.

D Phi E had a chapter there for a time in the 1960s.
