When people who are not greek ask me why I joined a sorority, I tell them that in any town I go to there is sure to be sister nearby.

again I am so sorry about your beloved dog :(

justamom 03-26-2004 09:32 AM

OK, what's up with everyone?

Highs-Sister is getting married and neice is having TWINS! Great weather all my flowers are blooming. Son is coming home with some friends tomorrow. We found a new assistant.
Life is good!

Lows-My mother is not taking care of herself.
Now, the REASON my son is coming home is because HE'S SPENDING TOO MUCH MONEY!!! Wants to refill the coffers and have me buy him some clothes! So much for our "budget"!
Still happy he's coming!:D

aggieAXO 03-26-2004 02:01 PM

Highs: It is spring and the bluebonnets are coming out-my favorite time of the year :).
will start having the house remodeled in 1-2 months-I can't wait!

Lows: I will be working a lot of overtime to pay for the remodeling :( and depite this I can't have everthing done at once-I will have to pick and choose.

justamom 03-27-2004 09:02 AM

aggieAXO-I think you may find you will be more pleased with your results that way. You will be able to be more creative and come up with things you are really pleased with! A lot of people rush into things and the end result isn't as cohesive as they hoped.
What all are you doing?

Christopher Lowell's Seven Layers of Design is GREAT for getting your imagination working!

aggieAXO 03-28-2004 02:18 AM

JAM,

thanks for the words of wisdom, I know I should take my time but I just can't wait to get it all over with :).

As far as the house goes, I am re-doing all the floors, mainly in saltillo tile but will also have some hardwoods placed (the contractor does not like laminant and says this will be out of style soon)-I think the flooring is going to cost the most. I have "cottage cheese" celings and will have all of these scraped off and re-textured. In the den I will have wood beams put up in the ceiling to make it feel more like I guess you would say a log cabin? (my mother calls it my "hacinda"-I think that is the way you spell spanish for house)

And the cats are driving me crazy so I am going to have the laundry room changed into a "litterbox" room, it will be walled off with a small opening for them and a small door for me to be able to go in and change the litterboxes. The washer and dryer will be placed in the garage.

Then the downstairs bathroom will be totally re-done except for the tub which is white-I can deal with this.

Next year I will do my upstairs. The master bathroom will get a whirl pool jacuzzi tub and I am going to take half of my huge walk in closet and make it into a sauna. I am going to place a plasma (sp?) TV above the tub so I can have a nice long soak and watch TV:).

Then there is the outside-I am going to have all new landscaping done in the front yard and eventually in the back which will include a hot tub-this is probably 2-3 years away though.

I get so excited just thinking about it :). Of course working all of the overtime to pay for this is not as exciting.

justamom 03-28-2004 10:02 AM

 WOW OH WOW! This sounds fantastic!

Would you start a thread on this, because I have a TON of things I'd like to talk with you about? First being, will you do any of the work yourself? Second...When did you win the lottery???;)

aggieAXO 03-29-2004 03:25 PM

JAM,

I wish I had won the lottery! I made a pretty nice profit when I sold my condominium-so this is helping plus I have no husband or kids so the only person I have to spend money on is me (and my mom of course :)).

I will do all of the painting myself as I have painted since I was a little girl (dad use to own a paint store in San Antonio so I spent a lot of time around paints/painters). Otherwise the rest will be left up to the contractor.

There is so many more things I would like to do-for instance a skylight in the living room, french doors leading out to the outside atrium- those will have to wait :(.

axotiger 03-30-2004 02:04 PM

LOWS: ... at work :( I am also taking a class at school and have a program due Friday at midnight. It was SUPPOSED to be due wednesday, but my teacher was sick pushed the date back. Which would have been good but... Senior Beer Golf is the same friday!! So I'm working really hard to get it done early, but I don't know if it'll get done. :( Also, it's raining today, boo.

HIGHS: Great weekend. .:D Friday we had a Clam Bake [supposed to be an Oyster Roats, but the store was out of Oysters, go figure]. Saturday was Carolina Cup [Horse races in Camden SC where we all wear sundresses and tailgate all day] Had a blast there. This coming saturday I have a cocktail party to go to... my friends Birthday Party, so that'll be fun. And this coming monday, my boyfriend is going to meet my parents for the first time  . But it'll be ok, since my brother is coming out to eat with all of us too and us 3 hang out a lot anyway.

ETA: I forgot, it's greek week this week and our dancers won the dance compeition!!! :D :D Oh, yeah... and 2 weeks ago our girl won Miss Clemson!!

DaisyCrazy 04-09-2004 08:47 PM

Highs:
I'm engaged!!!!!!!! Woo-Hoo!!! Have been for 3 weeks now and I have to say it's pretty cool. :)
It's Easter weekend so I'm at home w/ the parents and the fiance is coming tomorrow for our first holiday together. Awww.
Today was a holiday from work and my mom and I spent the whole day shopping. Got a new dress and my wedding planner and a cool new pair of pants for the summer.

Lows:
None really right now. Unless you count the fact that I've had a scratchy throat all day and I'm wondering if I'm getting sick...

aggieAXO 04-10-2004 02:07 PM

Congrats DaisyC on your engagement!

justamom 04-10-2004 02:34 PM

I'll second that!!! That's fantastic news.

axotiger-I always wanted to go to a the beach and eat clams.
I LOVE clams.

AXO_MOM_3 04-14-2004 11:51 PM

lows: I have so much to do and there are never enough hours in the day. I'm taking a moment to post and procrastinate! Keep me in your thoughts on the 17th and 24th as I take two national exams that will be pretty important for my career!

Highs: Graduation is one month away! If I can survive the next three weeks, I am DONE! YIPPEE!

ETA: I'm still waiting to see that ring daisycrazy!
:D

Xylochick216 04-15-2004 10:49 AM

Highs: We're having a fabulous picnic this weekend with the Alpha Chi Omegas at UNCG and UNCCH. I'm so excited to meet them all :D

Lows: Only 38 days til graduation... I don't want to leave!

Congrats, DaisyCrazy! Isn't calling him your fiance weird? I still slip up 5 months later.

DaisyCrazy 04-19-2004 09:36 AM

Thanks for all the congrats! And yes, Xylochick, calling him my fiance is definitely weird!! But in a really nice way!! :)

Highs:
-Absolutely gorgeous spring weather. I sat outside yesterday reading my wedding books and got some sun on my pasty self!
-My parents and my fiance's parents are coming this weekend to officially begin the wedding planning. Should be fun!!

Lows:
-It's only Monday - 5 whole days of work to go until the next weekend.
-My boss is going to do payroll with me this week which means it will take 3 times as long, plus I have to listen to her ask a million questions. But I have to be patient b/c she's my boss...

Have a great week!!

cash78mere 04-19-2004 04:57 PM

high:

one of my coworkers, who's a tri delt, just got engaged and i will be a bridesmaid for the first time!

low:

i'm the one who introduced her to her fiancee and she's been dating him less than my boyfriend and me (the two men are best friends)

2 days later another coworker, who is the second bridesmaid for the first's wedding, got engaged as well!

ah well...my day will come...

axotiger 04-20-2004 09:30 AM

Highs:
I finish co-oping [for good] on the 30th. My final is done on the 27th. I go home for a week on the 9th and I'm going to see Mama Mia on Broadway with my mom. We're going to go into NYC and have lunch with my dad and then catch a matinee. THen I'm taking summer classes back down here [which I guess could go in the 'Lows' but it's fun since you have class maybe 1-2 hrs a day, and the rest of the day you hang out at the pool and drink... er, I mean study.

Lows:
Well, actually TAKING my final, but that's besides the point.
- The Low thing is that I only have a summer until my boyfriend graduates and goes to either Texas or Florida.
Texas for OBC [Officer Basic Course] or Florida to take over his families business. Both quite far away. But I have a few months to spend with him :)

cash78mere, your day will come:)

aggieAXO 04-20-2004 02:23 PM

Michelle,

GOOD LUCK!! I know you can do it :).

alphachiohmy 04-29-2004 10:18 AM

IT STINKS sometimes! I was the last one to get married of ALL my friends. I really hated that stupid saying, "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride." BITE ME! (But I wasn't bitter):p

Highs-Well, the sky isn't falling.
Lows-Things are really messy in terms of family. Not my little foursome, but my original family...hmmmm.

OH, I did forget a "HIGH"! Both kids have summer jobs........out of state!;) Of course I will miss them, but I won't miss the cooking, cleaning, phone calls and odd hours.

Munchkin03 04-29-2004 11:59 AM

HIGHS:

I have a job for this summer, at an architecture firm here in NYC. It will continue into the fall, so when I graduate I'll have a full year of experience at an architecture firm, along with my two years at non-profit preservation organizations. That should help me find a real job over my idiot classmates.

Classes are over in a little more than a week.

I can't wait to get home! I miss my family soooo much.

LOWS:

I think I'm going to be staying in this apartment next year. I realized how difficult it is to get an apartment as a student; I also don't feel very comfortable with my parents cosigning on an apartment I'd be sharing with my fiance. They're okay with it, I'm not. Our schools are over 100 blocks away from each other, so maybe it makes more sense to have separate places until graduation.

I have to take an AutoCAD class this summer. $900, bye-bye.

I am 32 and wonder if the day will come for me :(. I do have a couple of other friends my age that aren't married so I am not totally alone. For now though I am enjoying life as a single young professional :).

Thanks! I survived! I turned in my last paper yesterday, and am now just waiting for graduation. I am so excited, and can't believe these two years are finally coming to a close.
Now I'm just planning to hang out with the girls for the summer, and will start looking for a job in the school system somewhere. I'm looking forward to being able to read what I WANT to read for a change! Anyone have any suggestions for good reads?

:D :D :D :D :D

Gambling in the airport, taking a million pictures, staring google-eyed at all the crazy people on the strip. Should be quite an adventure! Any one have any good Vegas tips, PM me!
