Does anyone know if the live stream will just appear on that page or you have to sign up for an account? I signed up for a free account with livestream.com but I can't find anything yet. The page shows there are 180 viewing...

GoMizzou I'm getting the same thing so it's not just you. I've watched LiveStream events before and it seems like they turned it on right before the event but I'm not sure....anyone else know?

The actives are over the moon about their new members! Very exciting! I look forward to watching live.

NorthernMom 08-23-2015 10:16 AM

My daughter is texting me excited updates. I am getting weepy.

GoMizzou 08-23-2015 10:17 AM

I think you are right, it will just come on when it starts. I thought they might have it going already but probably not.
Today must be as exciting for the actives as the PNM!

mumomm 08-23-2015 10:21 AM

230 now watching the blank screen! lol Congrats to everyone on a cool 70 degree bid day! Weather couldn't be more perfect. Wonder if I'll be able to pick out my Senior DD as she welcomes her new little sisters amongst the 3000 girls and spectators....

Bluedoor 08-23-2015 10:29 AM

When I watched the Greek week skit night live stream last year it was a blank screen up until a few seconds into the start of the event, and then it just popped up. Stick with it. It will most likely start streaming right around 10:00.

MIZparent 08-23-2015 10:42 AM

Congratulations to all the PNMs who matched today, and here's hoping those who still want to be part of Greek life might find a new home via COB. If your daughter wants to COB, she should complete the COB registration form with PHA, get to know and make friends with girls in EVERY house, and concentrate on those grades. I'll keep my fingers crossed for each and everyone!

Moms, if your daughter received a bid, post as soon as you know what chapter she is joining... Can't wait to hear!

I know the actives worked VERY hard these past few weeks, and they are so excited to greet their new sisters!

NorthernMom 08-23-2015 10:52 AM

Just came on!

Alabama has a very high percentage of out of state students and that is reflected in the make-up of the girls who go through recruitment - I believe over 65% of the girls are OOS.

OOS girls are less locked in to the perceived tiers and may bring with them different preconceptions about a sorority based on how strong it is at campuses closer to home. I think this factor has a lot to do with how high the placement rate is at Alabama.

Jill1228 08-23-2015 11:15 AM

The Pi Chi reveal was cute

mumomm 08-23-2015 11:38 AM

I actually saw my daughter several times! So much fun to watch them welcome their new sisters! Congrats to all!!!

Bluedoor 08-23-2015 11:45 AM

Can't wait to hear about your daughters moms!

NorthernMom 08-23-2015 11:47 AM

Mine sent me a pic of her waiting with her bid day buddy sign. So excited!

Bluedoor 08-23-2015 11:48 AM

pbear 19 and any other chapter advisors, question for you:

Since this year's quota is smaller than last year's (I believe last year it was 93), what will they do in terms of placing new members with Bigs? Maybe this varies from sorority to sorority. Just wondering if they will have some new members with two pledge Moms/Bigs, or what?

In the chapters that I've worked with, some people just won't get a Little Sister. Some people are okay never having one or waiting until they are Juniors to have a Little Sister.

WalkintheWoods 08-23-2015 11:50 AM

I got a pic of my daughter in her Bid Day shirt--she is SOOOOO excited about her Bid Day buddy!! :) Wish they would also live stream the girls arriving at the houses--but of course my Mom didn't get to see any of it. We're all much more connected to life on campus as Moms than our parents were!

Congrats! That is wonderful. Hope she has a blast today!

NorthernMom 08-23-2015 11:51 AM

Wouldn't it be funny of some our our girls were buddies to some of the new ones?

Bluedoor 08-23-2015 11:56 AM

Walkinthewoods same! I was so fortunate to get to be there last year. I'm definitely missing getting to watch first hand. I haven't been able to watch the bid day stream because I'm at church. I should probably get off this site and pay attention, but I'm so anxious to hear from the moms where their daughters ended up!

beagled1 08-23-2015 11:59 AM

My daughter's thrilled to be a Pi Beta Phi.

Thanks for being such a great resource for information and support. You have helped me (and my daughter) so much.

carnation 08-23-2015 12:00 PM

NorthernMom 08-23-2015 12:02 PM

Bluedoor 08-23-2015 12:06 PM

Beagled1. So happy for her! Nothing like your daughter being happy, makes a moms heart happy too!

GoMizzou 08-23-2015 12:12 PM

Saw my daughter several times but couldn't tell which group she was with! Still waiting to hear!

Bluedoor it's so fun to know they are happy on the other side of Rush, isn't it? Sorry you had to miss the lifestream--it was fun! I don't think they had one last year and I was really wishing they did. Great that you were there in person!

I suppose some people could also be studying abroad or doing internships and may be better for them to wait

Ah, the waiting! Seemed like it took forever for my daughter to text me last year! Very fun that you could see her on the LiveStream though!

In my chapter, there were times that two women would pair up to take a little. For example, if one of them was going to be abroad in spring semester or didn't live in the house or something like that.

WalkintheWoods 08-23-2015 05:01 PM

Congratulations to all the New Members!!!

I wrote 4 recs this year...one of them dropped (insert sad face here) but the other 3 are very happy with their choices! One Kappa Alpha Theta (hooray--my Chapter and also my daughter's); One Alpha Delta Pi and One Kappa Delta! So happy for these three girls and their respective chapters. It was a very strong recruitment this year with so many quality women.
