Slight correction here; Pi Phi's chapter at Knox is actually called Illinois Beta-Delta, not Illinois Beta Dueteron. This is because in 1930 when Knox and Lombard colleges merged, Pi Phi had chapters at both of them. The Pi Phi chapters merged and both of the Greek letters were kept in order to acknowledge both chapters in perpetuity.

I am noticing that a few of Pi Phi's initial early chapters in the midwest (before we started with the state-by-state naming system) are missing. Basically in cases where the college went under before the switch to the state naming system or in cases where the school has now changed names a bunch. I'll try to post some about that in the next few days.

Chapters at Rowan (NJ)

The list of NPC chapters currently on Rowan's web site is a bit different fron the one in this GC recruitment thread:

http://www.rowan.edu/clubs/greeklife...PCChapters.htm

Rowan has also posted this notice:

"We would like to advise all students and parents/guardians that there are groups of University students that are not recognized by the University. For your own well-being, we discourage you from attending their events and from affiliating with these organizations."

The notice is near the bottom of this page on Rowan's site:

http://www.rowan.edu/clubs/greeklife...howtojoin.html

The list of groups includes the names of -- or names identical to -- two NPC organizations. The organizations are NOT listed as members of Rowan's Panhellenic.

Are these chapters of Delta Zeta and Phi Sigma Sigma recognized by their HQs? Does anyone know why the 5 NPCs on campus are recognized but the other 2 are now?

The Phi Sigma Sigma website lists Rowan as an active chapter. The Delta Zeta website does not list Rowan. Any more than that, I do not know...

Some groups do keep chapters open even if the school derecognizes them - especially if the derecognition is for bogus reasons. The school may put their own negative "spin" on it but whether the national HQ still recognizes them is another matter altogether. Being unrecognized by the school does not necessarily mean a group is operating with no oversight whatsoever.

This may not be the case here, but I just wanted to point out it does happen.

(Sorry for the hijack, irishpipes)

I found this regarding the DZ chapter at Rowan. Looks like DZ had some hazing and disciplinary offenses. Their chapter website hasn't been updated since 2005.

I <3 exlurker. To be totally honest, I dread 2 parts of this list - California and the Northeast (mainly NJ and NY). So thanks for giving me all those CA dates!!!

Yes, my top-secret NPC source confirmed that the DZ chapter isn't just unrecognized, it is indeed closed at Rowan.

Sigma closed in 1989 and reopened in 1996. DPhiE was open from 1974-1995, with a brief recolonization attempt in 1997–1998. DZ closed in 2003. Also, according to my info, the dates for ZTA are incorrect--they opened in 1979 and have been open since. The Greek Life website has a document with a timeline of all the fraternities and sororities that have ever been at Carolina. It's listed on this page as a Word document: http://greeks.unc.edu/index.php?opti...=121&Itemid=40

I think you already have the recruitment dates, but here's the schedule for anyone interested:
August 29th--Open House, 4:00pm - 11:00pm (PNMs visit all 10 chapters for 20 minutes each, with a one hour dinner break)
August 31st--Skit Round, 1:00-6:00pm (PNMs spend 30 minutes each at 7 chapters)
September 1st--Philanthropy Round & House Tours, 3:00 - 8:00pm (PNMs visit 5 chapters; rounds are 45 minutes long
September 3rd--Preference Night, 6:00-9:00pm (PNMs visit 3 chapters for 45 minutes each)
September 4th--Bid Day! 6:00pm

All times are GMT -4. The time now is 07:21 PM.
