I have only been there once, but Michigan Stadium (The Big House) is very loud.
1. It is BIG. The capacity is 107,501, but has had 112,000+ in attendence for a game with Ohio State
2. Fans sit very close to the field
3. It was basically dug into the ground so the sound is consolidated

Beaver Stadium almost did in Ohio State Quarterbacks. Players couldn't hear the signals from the QB

Ohio Stadium (The Horseshoe) vibrates when the OSU band comes through the tunnel and the fans begin yelling. I've taken Texas alumnae to OSU games and they said UT games were never that loud.

I can't wait for the season to begin. USC here I come!

I've been absent a little while but this looks like a good time to comment.

LSU BAMA registered on the Richter Scale. What do you northerners know about that?

For some reason, I was thinking that every LSU game registered at some level, if it were a night game, I was thinking the Arkansas LSU game did as well.

I actually got that wrong anyway, while several have registered the most notable was the 88 LSU-Auburn game, not Bama. I believe the 03 Bama game was pretty high too.

SEC

SEC Fans: The Force Behind The King of Conferences
by Brian Scott (Analyst)
Bleacher Report
August 13, 2008

A snippet from the article.

The truth is that fans are what drive college football programs. Ticket sales mean money, which leads to improved facilities, which leads to better recruits, which leads to bowl games, national television, and more money!

College football in the South is much more than a sport. It’s an event, and for many people, an interpersonal experience. It’s a daylong (several days for some) festival where people migrate to the mossy oaks of a Southern college campus and celebrate more than just their team. They celebrate life.

SEC football is a tradition that is passed down through generations like a wristwatch or a hunting rifle. As soon as anyone has a baby in the south, they get inundated with toddler clothes bearing the logo of a college football team (you gotta teach the kid early). You'll never set your eyes on a more proud human being than when a young father takes his new son to his first tailgate party.

By the way, here is normally where we would describe an SEC tailgate party, but that could be an article all on its own.

Oh, and speaking of kids, you know those friends of yours who got married and started having babies, so you basically never see them anymore unless someone gets married or dies? Well, you’ll see those guys every Saturday in the fall.

This is what drives the passion. Many compare their love of college football and team allegiance to a religion. In the South, we have God, country, and football—and depending on who you’re talking to, not necessarily in that order!

BCS Bound--Orange Bowl Championship game January 8, 2009...

ferrus_manus 08-28-2008 05:06 PM

Georgia ranked #1.......That is reaching big time.

South Carolina, FSU and Cal should have been ranked in the top 25.

BTW go Seminoles!

Kevin 08-28-2008 05:11 PM

Oklahoma?

Missouri?

Why are these not on your list? One of the two is probably going -- to the Fiesta at the very least.

Now the Sooners......I can see that argument. But the Tigers???????

TexasWSP 08-28-2008 05:23 PM

Michigan?????

As much as it pains me to say this.....not having OU in that poll renders it meaningless.

I agree, I also think that if Texas is really gunning it, they might have a chance.

Missouri got jobbed out of a BCS game last year, they're an overwhelming favorite to win the North. They're as good a bet as any to go to the BCS.
