And you're absolutely right. After your post I "googled" it and did find that "tow" predominated the first pronunciation listings ("taw" being secondary or nonexistent). So that's good to know! (though I'll always be a "taw" girl). :)

I don't see the post you're referring to...but it would be uninformed, not closed-mided. I'm sure if that person (whomever you're referring to) knew that there were other sororities with Tau in the name, I'm sure he would accept it...otherwise THEN he would be close-minded.

And, if you want to get technical, there are only TWO NPC sororties with Tau in their name, ZTA is a women's fraternity.

LOL. I think she was referring to you:

I believe that this is used because LOTS of sororities have Alpha and Sigma in their name, but I think they're the only (or one of the only) with Tau in their name.

HA! I was talking about my own campus.

Alpha Sigma Alpha
Alpha Sigma Tau
Chi Omega
Delta Zeta
Phi Sigma Sigma
Sigma Kappa
Sigma Sigma Sigma

Lots of Alphas and Sigmas, only one Tau.

Whatever, bitch! LOL.

Besides, either way "one of the only" clearly implies the possibility of more..which would be SDT...the only other SORORITY with Tau in their name.

Hey, I was JUST thinking about this thread earlier... the Appy State thread had a link that lead to this page: http://www.greeks.appstate.edu/index...position=80:80,
and I thought "Ah, 'taw', the debate goes on..." :) ;)

But then, I fully recognize this list isn't the end-all-be-all, it only lists the "fie" pronounciation of Phi as in Omega Phi, not the "fee" pronunciation as in Alpha Phi (and they're on campus!).

For some reason, that just sounds so Zen. :D
