I figured that Godric's sword coming out of the hat was just proof that it was tied to him and his legacy and not to the goblins, simply because they made it. The goblin definitely took the sword, but it returned to GOdric's heirs in their time of need. And to Neville! Oh I was soooo happy reading about him and how he finally came into his own. I always loved the character.
To be fair, I can't think of anything in the book I wasn't happy or excited to read about (even hte deaths were completely understandable and meaningful, if sad). I do wish the epilogue had more detail- to be honest I was kind of puzzled by it- I KNOW that JK has in her head far, far more detail about these characters than she has ever shared in the books. She has to know what these characters are doing in 19 years. Why wouldn't she tell us? Is there going to be another book? Things that made me go hmm.... |

And yes, since this post was directed to me, I did take offense to it. I'm not frickin stupid, I did see that the thread said spoilers but I also know that people on this frickin forum bitch, moan, whine and complain when they stupidly read something even though it says "spoilers" all over it. So pardon me for actually "warning" those people to stop reading  I was trying to be considerate to those people who still read threads like these and then as I said "bitch, moan, whine and complain" because they have been "spoiled". I guess I was being too nice. |
De-lurking to throw in my two knuts...
While I laughed at Molly's outburst and subsequent fight with Bellatrix, I think I laughed more when Dumbledore revealed that Snape had to kill him and Snape's response was "What? Now? or should I give you time to write your epitaph?" Or something to that effect. (Maybe I was just exhausted.) Chapters I definitely have to re-read for clarity: Chapter 13 - the Ministry mission Bathlida's secret (I went cross eyed trying to read it and keep the facts straight) And the last couple o' chapters. Especially Harry's monologue and whole "who's the Elder Wand's true owner," etc. I thought the epilogue was all Velveeta cheese... but I was left with similar questions as pp have mentioned. (Jobs, did they finish, who's in charge, etc.) Did anyone get ages from the children? (Lily was underage, James was older, Albus is 11... didn't catch the other 2 children.) Maybe she did this to put all of the crazy H/Hr and R/Hr and H/G shippers at ease. ;) Wasn't their something about Lily's hand at charms being really important... wasn't that a clue before this book came out? Or was that plot point nixed? And how the HELL are they going to make this a movie? The small plot points were important. Especially, how are they going to bring back Dobby after not seeing him since the 2nd movie? Spoiler: (Only to kill him again.) Maybe I'm the only one that thought Deathly Hollows was a location... A small part of me would have gotten a kick out of Krecher with the fake locket saying "My Precious..." but that's just me. LOL. |
Also, I thought Peter Pettigrew would help Harry at some point (since Harry saved his life) to honor the magic that happens when a wizard saves the life of another wizard (this was hinted at in book 3). Yet another thread that didn't get tied up.
I seriously doubt this will happen, but would anyone else be excited if JKR wrote a prequel? I would love to find out more about young Lily, James, Sirius, Lupin, and Snape. |

O GOD NO!!!! Last thing we need is a Star Wars Prequel Syndrome!!! WE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!!! 1. Snape liked Lily 2. Snape came from a dysfunctional family 3. Snape and Lily went to the wrong school 4. Snape fell in with the wrong crown partly because his social standings weren't up to muster and he was not James Potter 5. Snape had an unrequited love for Lily 6. Lily dies and Snape agreed to watch out for Potter WE DONT NEED ANOTHER BOOK FOR THAT! |

I enjoyed the book even though I read quite a few of the spoilers and was aware of some of the inconsistencies. Cheesy as the epilogue was, it didn't bother me that much. (cross-posted with AlethiaSi) |
