Definitely not necessary.

The thing I really glad I got was the rechargeable battery kit. It was similar to this one. It saved me from having to buy batteries.

ETA: Why do I never have people in my Mii Plaza, I feel lonely :( lol

I'm bumping this because I am getting a Wii (it's imminent!) and I need to know which accessories are a necessity.

My preliminary research seems to show that the things like the golf club and tennis racket are cute, but not necessary -- is this true?

Thankies in advancies.

We play golf and tennis with the controller. The clubs and rackets are definitely not necessary.

I'm so glad I brought my question to GC -- my facebook friends told me "GET EVERYTHING!"

smh

Thank you!

I mean you could buy the golf club and the tennis rack, but really all it does is take up space, especially if you're gonna buy one for each controller.

The controller works just as well.

If you like old school NES/SNES/N64/Sega games you can buy them through the Wii Channel with a credit card (or buy some the Wii Points card). I have all the old school Mario, Donkey Kong and Sonic games.

I am really only getting it for the old school games! lol

Bf and I bought the sports accesories and then promptly returned them because they were a pain in the ass and served no purpose. People say you don't need the wheels for MarioKart, but I disagree; it's totally lame without the wheels.

I agree. The wheels and the rechargeable battery packs are all you really need. They make a rechargeable pack for the Wii Fit if you get that, too. Make sure you have a nunchuk for each controller, because some games require them. And if you can swing it, get 4 remotes.

We downloaded the Donkey Kong Country games and Super Mario World along with StarTropics (waaaaay old school) during the first blizzard in December. We were entertained for weeks.

If you want some fun games, I love Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart, and Wii Play (comes with a controller). Mario Party can be fun in groups, as can Guitar Hero/Rock Band. I like old school Cookin' Mama and Endless Ocean, too.

Oh yeah I forgot. For some of the old school games you'll need a Classic Controller. There are many different ones that you can get.

This one is the one I got and I just bought it at the local game store in the mall. It came with a nunchuk too

The accessories are TOTALLY not necessary. If you really want them, don't pay $10 for each. Get them @ the Dollar Tree. What kind of workout do you want? I chose EA Active over wii fit, & totally LOVE it!!! I just got my wii last month!!

Thanks everybody!

Welp, it's payday AND I got my income tax return, so it's about to be on like popcorn!
