Chris Rock Files for Divorce
TMZ has learned Chris Rock has begun divorce proceedings against his wife of nearly 10 years, Malaak Compton-Rock. TMZ is told the comedian has hired a high-powered divorce attorney to represent him.
The couple, married in November of 1996, has two daughters -- 4 year-old Lola and 2 year-old Zahra. Malaak is the founder and executive director of StyleWorks, a non-profit, full-service salon that provides free services for women leaving welfare and entering the workforce. When contacted, Rock's rep would only say "I cannot comment at this time." Chris, best known for his stand-up comedy, is currently in post-production for the film "I Think I Love My Wife," scheduled for release on March 16. http://www.tmz.com/2006/11/03/chris-...s-for-divorce/ |
Kerry, Rocks' divorce
Quote:
To the Rocks' divorce, I hate to see that, but it seems it's in the water, following Reese Witherspoon's disposal of her suspect hubby (sorry, Ryan doesn't scream "masculine husband and father" to me, as it were). Malaak, IMO, really complemented Chris and elevated him a bit, too. She has brains, gives back, raises the girls, etc. She's somewhat of a player in the "ladies-who-lunch" scene in NYC. I've seen her on the New York Social Diary. The LWL scene is, like many parts of society, not really open. We have the OKOP instead. But some of us play in it, e.g., Soror Star, Deborah Roberts, Kathryn Chenault, Tonya Lewis Lee, Crystal McCrary (formerly Anthony), Jaci Wilson Reid, Grace Hightower DeNiro, Susan Fales Hill, etc. |
What does this mean for the U.S.?
Saddam, half brother sentenced to death
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Saddam Hussein and his half brother were convicted and sentenced Sunday to death by hanging for war crimes in the 1982 killings of 148 people in the town of Dujail, as the visibly shaken former leader shouted "God is great!" After the verdict was read, a trembling Saddam yelled out, "Life for the glorious nation, and death to its enemies!" In addition to the former Iraqi dictator and Barzan Ibrahim, his half brother, the Iraqi High Tribunal convicted and sentenced Awad Hamed al-Bandar, the head of Iraq's former Revolutionary Court, to death by hanging. Iraq's former Vice President Taha Yassin Ramadan was convicted of premeditated murder and sentenced to life in prison. Three other co-defendants were convicted of murder and torture and sentenced to up to 15 years in prison. One defendant was acquitted for lack of evidence. Clashes with police broke out in north Baghdad's heavily Sunni Azamiyah district after the verdict against Saddam was announced. |
Now Doogie Howser....
Actor Neil Patrick Harris says he is gay
LOS ANGELES - Neil Patrick Harris is gay and wants to quell any rumors to the contrary. "(I) am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest," Harris tells People magazine's Web site. The 33-year-old actor said he was motivated to disclose his sexuality because of recent "speculation and interest in my private life and relationships." Harris stars on the CBS comedy "How I Met Your Mother." He started on TV as a teen, playing the namesake doctor on the series "Doogie Howser, M.D." |
Yeah I kinda thought he was after I saw that Harold and Kumar movie. Can't say I am surprised with Doogie.

Actually she and some of her Scientology folks went to a bible study at an AME church and started a rukus. To each his or her own when it comes to religion, but I have a real problem when people take their beliefs to other churches or other beliefs and act a fool if it's something that they don't believe in |
I'm so sick of hearing about Kanye's outbursts and tantrums. Man up, Kanye...you're not hot to death to everybody!
Re: Chris Rock & Malaak: I hate to see another positive image of the black family dissipate. :( |

Am I the only one who didn't know Kobe had kids?
www.ybf.blogspot.com Celebs were everywhere this weekend. Vanessa Bryant and the kiddies hit up the Staples center to see Daddy Kobe ball on the court: http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/5...00/game.11.jpghttp://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/5...00/game5.2.jpghttp://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/5...00/game3.4.jpg http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/5...00/game4.0.jpg I'm just never impressed with Vanessa's shoe game. They always seem out of place. She has too much money not to know she needs to dress for the season, not just the weather. |
I've known kerry washington since I was a kid. Granted, I haven't spoken to her in YEARS, but I just can't see her doing that. People change, but not THAT much. She is awesome, and her Mama taught her better than that.
