Well, ladies. Time to watch Audrey Hepburn in "The Nun's Story" before hitting the sack. Great movie if you haven't seen it. Audrey Hepburn rocks.

Keep those posts coming, private or otherwise. I'm having great fun and will certainly be back tomorrow. I will be the eternal barnacle hanging around the GreekChat ship....

adpiucf 08-19-2006 10:49 PM

You'll just have to think about changing your screen name tomorrow to "XYZDad" once BamaDaughter becomes XYZDaughter! :)

ADPi Conniebama 08-19-2006 11:09 PM

I hope bamadaughter has a wonderful bid day. I hope bamadad and mom have a wonderful bid day too. ROOOOLLL TIDE

Zillini 08-19-2006 11:39 PM

Just so everyone knows, especially BamaDad, the deadline for submitting Bid Lists was 10pm CSt which has now passed. Panhellenic fines ridiculous amounts for every minute the list is late. So I feel it's a pretty safe assumption that all lists have been turned in. All our jobs are now done, both PNMs and Chapters. Everything is now in the hands of Panhellenic for Bid Matching.

For obvious reasons I haven't participated much in this thread, though I confess I've thoroughly enjoyed reading it. As well as the other "SEC Recruitment" thread. Thank you BamaDad for your wonderful insights from a Dad's perspective. I too wish your daughter the absolute best and am sure she will find a wonderful new home and loving sisters. I look forward to hearing where she ends up.

Based on what you've said BamaDad, I assume you're still back home in VA. That's a shame as Bama Bid Day is an exciting, fun filled family event. It is really too bad you will miss it. :(

I haven't wanted to say anything because I'm just a friend of the mom; but, my friend's daughter is also going through recruitment at BAMA. i'm waiting just as BamaDad and Mom and SouthernYankee are. I am so glad that I didn't know as much three years ago when my daughter went through this (at UK) as I know now!!!!!! ( I can't believe my child is now a senior!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I haven't wanted to bother my friend so the last update that I have was first invites and my friend's daughter was invited to all 15. I'm waiting to find out (I wouldn't dare call her) untill Tuesday night when we are scheduled to have dinner.

Good luck to SouthernYankee and to Bama Dad and Mom and both daughters!!!!

Good luck, BamaFamily!!!

I have enjoyed reading this thread so much...thank you for sharing your daughter's experience with all of us GCers!

I can't wait to find out where BamaDaughter found her Greek home. The excitment is killing me! :D

Fraternally,

Zillini said that bid lists were due last night at 10:00 PM CST. I did not want to give the appearance of impropriety or risk violating Greek protocol. Given that, I guess we can name her preferences. BamaDaughter had six invitations for Preference Day, so she unfortunately had to say good-bye to three excellent sororities Saturday. She would not tell us her final ranking after Preference Day due to superstition, but did tell us her preferences:

Alpha Delta Pi

Pi Beta Phi

Delta Zeta

My daughter found it difficult to cut sororities each night of recruitment. To all other sorority actives and alums out there, she thought you were all wonderful. BamaDaughter said she would have accepted a bid from any of the fifteen sororities all along. I guess that comes from being a non-legacy - its likely easier to keep an open mind. In any event, it was not easy because they were all great, the difference just one of degree. We hope one of the fine houses remaining give her a bid today. Keep your fingers crossed.....

pinkyphimu 08-20-2006 11:02 AM

Well, it sounds like which ever order she placed them, she has three great groups! I can't wait to find out which one she is gets a bid from!!

carnation 08-20-2006 11:52 AM

Angels&Arrows, dang you! You just knew that one was Pi Phi! How did you do that?

BetteDavisEyes 08-20-2006 11:56 AM

This has been one of the funnest threads in a long time. I'm eagerly waiting to hear where she'll end up.

BamaDad 08-20-2006 12:59 PM

I'm glad you ladies are enjoying this. A few hours to go until we learn whether she was high enough on the bid list for any sorority she preffed. I am not being overly pessimistic, just slightly apprehensive until she has a piece of paper in her hand saying "we want you, Bama Daughter!" We have to go to a barbecue today for BamaDaughter's little sister's high school crew team, so I will bring my laptop with me to send out quick message. Then, when I get home, I hope my faithful GreekChat friends will have sent me their thoughts, condolences, laughs, congratulations, whatever is appropriate for the occaison so I have something to read. If the news is good, BamaDad is celebrating with a Romeo y Julietta cigar and Macallan single-malt scotch in a toast to BamaDaughter and my GreekChat chums!

PhiMuLady150 08-20-2006 12:59 PM

Sending good wishes to your daughter BamaDad! Kudos to you and her for a great attitude and open mind during this week!

BadSquirrelBeta 08-20-2006 01:13 PM

Miffed...

Would someone puh-leeeze call the Office of Greek Affairs and tell them to hurry it up? Making all of us GCers wait to find out where these young ladies are going is a form of hazing, I would say...LOL...

And, wouldn't you know it, my boys all have a fall baseball game this afternoon probably about the time the results will be posted.

Speaking of "hazing" and "squeal" day (ok...I am really dating myself now), Bid day, ah hem...when my cousin rushed at OSU she had to get her bid card and then SIT ON IT for 15 minutes before the rushees were allowed to open it. That would have been torture.

ADPi Conniebama 08-20-2006 02:07 PM

WOW THOSE ARE THREE GREAT CHOICES - I don't think your daughter can go wrong with any of those - BAMA DAD we have all loved your thread and maybe when things calm down a bit you can send your daughter in her to say hello - then she can "sign up" into whichever forum suits her -

WOW I HOPE . . . nevermind I can edit this later to end that sentence so that I don't look stupid now :p

I am so excited and we have a good (what?) six hours before we know?

- so here are my opinions
- Pi Beta Phi - what a great chapter - those ladies seem to know how to recruit and retain collegiate members - they seem to have good grades and have leaders at the university

- Delta Zeta - What a great national reputation and they, too, are a great chapter at BAMA - some very important people in Huntsville are DZ's (mostly from UAH but either way)

- AND WOW ADPi - I do know they are a great chapter - I mean, hello, right now they have Jessica Namoth (i know i know, but come on Joe Namoth,s Daughter at BAMA, she might as well be a star) - they win national adpi awards yearly and their house is GREAT - and at a great location - one of the older sororities on campus.

I have to say I have my favorite but - your daughter should be happy at any one of those houses.

hurry up 5:30
