Dentistry is a business, just like any other. What could be an easier way to make money than by taking it from some dumbass rapper that is willing to drop thousands of dollars to show off his mouth. Sorry, but I think the malpractice insurance would be small cookies compared to other endeavors in the medical field.

I could say a lot of things... But I will leave it with this: Do you know how a grill or any dental appliance is actually made from the time you sit in the dentist's chair till the time you come back for the item?

Well, some of us pierced and tattooed freaks turn out just fine and end up going to uni and doing pretty well in life (even photographing your 100k+ wedding). Most people think that kids just blindly go getting holes in their body. When I got my piercings, when I stretched my lobes, when I chose my plugs for said lobes, I knew the risks, I knew the consequences. I know that if I stretch past x gauge (usually 00), then my lobes probably won't shrink back. Conversely, if I decided to go that way, I could have them scapeled and stitched and re-healed that way. (Incidentally, my lobes started at 12ga, and I stretched up to 4ga currently, plus 2 18 ga cartilage piercings (Rook and anti-tragus)). I think that people don't give teenagers enough credit for understanding the consequences. Before I got any of my holes, I got a big long lecture from my very friendly piercer on the consequences of bad aftercare and the consequences of piercing in general...if non-regulated piercing parlours can do this, it shouldn't be too hard for a regulated, registered dental office to do it as well.

Pierced and proud,
Phoenix.

Piercings and such don't create losers. It just happens to be that losers are more likely to do this stuff. No offense, of course.

I completely disagree. You need to step out of your small box. No offense, of course.

shinerbock 08-03-2006 05:42 PM

I was kind of kidding, but ok, now I'm not. If you get a bunch of tattoos and your nose pierced and dye your hair pink, you're usually not bound for wall street. Then again, I guess I'm stuck in my "traditional" box. I'll try again.

Yeah man, rock on! Don't be a conformist, rather, conform to the non-conformists. We're so different, lets go to Hot Topic at the mall.

Just because one isn't bound for Wall Street doesn't mean they're a loser. Plenty of people have no interest in that route, and get piercings, etc., knowing that the professions they are interested in are accepting of that sort of thing (most art-type professions, for instance). You can be extremely successful in careers such as photography, commercial illustration, advertising (depending on the firm), writing, and so on, with all kinds of body mods. Personally, I wouldn't get anything too extreme and visible done, because of the work I want to go into. And of course, I don't really like the idea of too much pain. But that's just me.

As for your last paragraph, completely agree :D I don't think I know anyone over the age of 15 who shops at Hot Topic ...

shinerbock 08-03-2006 06:18 PM

Yeah, I'm sure you can be successful in many fields with that stuff. However, I'm traditional, and I prefer traditional careers. However, most people with piercings and dyed hair and such give me much more reason to dislike them for than just their "body mods." To each their own. But I mean, those kids would never get a bid here, and hopefully I'll never have this problem with my children. I really don't want a Wedding Crashers "Death you are my bitch lover!" type situation.

I guess that means I shouldn't take advantage of teh buy 4 grillz, get one free offer i saw in ATL

shinerbock 08-04-2006 04:40 PM

Yeah, you probably should. Getting grillz in ATL is like getting crabcakes in Maryland.

So you hate about 95% of the sorority members at Auburn then? With their bleached hair and their navel rings...
