Umm I don't know how many there are within the 1 mile radius or 5 mile radius to you. Maybe you should look.

I don't know of an area in Chicago that anyone I know would consider "Nice" that doesn't have a lot of Starbucks shops. If it's somewhere like Wicker Park, the indie coffee shops are not that great and there is a ghetto where people get shot within walking distance of those indie coffee shops. And that's the only place where I think you're referring to. If it's any place downtown or in LP, there are tons so I'm interested in knowing how many the website search shows for you.

Depends on the city - here in Boston, the Starbucks are in the nicer areas (Beacon Hill, Back Bay, Brookline, etc.). There are some indie coffee shops around, but most have been pushed out by Starbucks and Dunkin.

And on my street, those two plus Espresso Royale are all right next door to each other. And all are always busy. It amazes me.

I forgot about Royale - there's one on BU's campus, and it's a pretty big study location. Then again, the Starbucks in the Management School is a good study spot as well.

Ok, do I win some sort of prize for having the most Starbucks in my general vicinity? :p ;)

That's always a little sad. I think it's best when there's a nice mix of mom & pop places and big corporations. Personally, I don't have a problem with Starbucks, but when I have a choice I'll go to an indie shop.

If I'm in that mood, I'd rather go to Starbucks, because you know exactly what you're going to get. Indies don't always have the same idea of what a "redeye" or an Ice Capp is.

The closest one to me is within 50 miles. Seriously.

We're getting our first Starbucks here in my dinky little town soon! The next closest one is about 25 miles away.

I went to Starbucks for the FIRST TIME, due to all the hoopla, and I wasn't all that impressed with their treats.

One in school....none at home (though by my old school we now have 3 within 2 blocks)

PSKAdvisor 05-16-2006 12:53 PM

I can get to five within a 5-minute drive.

I have finally seen a Starbucks CLOSE. The one in Pullman next to Sella's and Tam's is GONE. I think it just moved to a different part of Pullman, but there is still a Starbucks in Safeway and another near IGA.

I'm glad we only have one in Moscow and the faux one in the residence halls.
