Early Fall Start is a program for freshman. We take one class (9:30 - 12:00 mon-thur) the month before school starts and live in the all-freshmen dorm. It has been really really fun... but is making recruitment more stressful! It's to get used to the campus and make friends before 30,000 people get here. :)

Thank you for all the encouragement everyone!

First, let me say, good for you for keeping an open mind and best wishes! I am hoping for Iris since that is DPhiE's flower and you are not on a campus with DPhiE.

I have decided Greek Chat need a new motto...
Breaking stereotypes, one PNM at a time

Anyone like it???

Enjoy the ride. We are all rooting for you!

Considering I'm blonde and was an engineering major for a bit, I got a VERY different impression from what she wrote (and not the positive kind).

:( I'm sorry if it sounded like I was expecting her to not be smart. I think we all stereotype to some degree. The woman I talked to knew this, and we talked about the crap that she got from people and how she dealt with it. Still, I'm sorry if I came off as judgemental.

See how things can be misread though LOL. I know another Engineer who could probably be considered blonde.(WW for Smrtblnde) She is definately smart. I'm a brunette and I bet there are way smarter blondes out there LOL
Have fun today though. It looks kinda dreary here in Pierce County. Hope it's better for you up there in Seattle. :-)

this is a really fun thread!

I don't know if it's from a part of the country we don't hear much from in terms of recruitment, if it's because SuzieQ is being so great at her posts, if it's because the school has a large greek system with great sororities or a little bit of both but I'm having a blast with reading it.

Have a great time and continue to have success with your rushing.

And, btw, I didn't take any offense with the "very blonde" comment. I knew what you were talking about but I can see how it would rub some people the wrong way.

Anyway, CAN NOT wait until this is all over and you will tell us who is who. The best part bar none to all these rush threads.

Good luck!!

I agree with the best part being the reveal... it is kinda anti climatic to read the posts and then not know who is who... but I will leave it to each person to decide what they reveal.

Though at the same time I understand when a PNM doesn't want to reveal it...it's a diffcult choice

Yay for a UW thread! I didn't go there, but I live close by. I have to root for the lilies, since that's my name :-) I can't wait to hear more- good luck & have fun!

Day 1 of House Tours!

Hey everyone! I got my schedule this morning!!! I was so happy to find out that I received a full schedule of ten houses! I felt really lucky since I have heard this is not very common. However, since the house I ranked bottom is on my list, I know I was invited to exactly 10 and know which 6 cut me. I will no longer be visiting the following houses:

Peony
Lavender
Lily
Daisy
Forget-Me-Not
Rose

I'm sooo happy with my schedule though, getting invites to half of my favorites. Today I visited five houses that I had ranked high on my list. Therefore, it isn't surprising that I had a good time at each of them.

I started out in the Violet house. Maybe it was because it was the first party of the day but it didn't go as smoothly as the others went and I won't be too surprised if I'm cut. However, I would be happy to go back and meet more people to get a better feel for it. Their house was AMAZING. Wow. All of the houses are beautiful, though.

Then I went back to the Orchid house. The conversation was easier here. I feel like it's hard to say distinctive things for some of the houses. It just felt comfortable, and they live in a big beautiful house.

Next I went to the Carnation house. I liked their house pretty well. A lot of people sleep in sleeping porches which I don't think is a bad thing. And it was nice talking to a senior who was pre-med.

Then I got to go back to the Sunflower house, which was a favorite. It still is. The women I talked to yesterday came back and said hi, and I got to know other women. They just seem like really smart, active women who are easy to get along with.

Lastly, I went to the Iris house. I really love this house too. Once again, the people I talked to before came back to say hi. And I could actually remember their names without looking at the nametags! It was the same way at the Sunflower house. I feel really good about this house.

I would like invites from any of these chapters, but my two favorites are Sunflower and Iris. :) Tomorrow I get to go back to what was my #1 yesterday, the Holly house. The other four I see tomorrow I ranked as my bottom four but I am glad I get to have another chance to check them out (I've read enough threads to know that people can change their minds a lot!)

Oh, and if you haven't already be sure to check out the chapter directory I'm not kidding when I say that every house is big and beautiful. :)

Go! Go! Go! And good deal on getting a full schedule! Was it/is it cold up there? It was dreary and cool all day down here (South sound)...no wonder I am soooo tired. Do you have big football plans for the weekend?

It was freezing! It didn't rain but it was in the low 60s. I had planned on wearing a skirt, then capris, and ended up wearing pants!

I bought the Dawg Pack, so I have tickets to all of the home football games... but Preference makes it so everyone has to miss the Saturday game! I still need to find someone to buy my ticket.
