Am super involved with Kappa Delta Chi
I've been out of school for 7 years now and we don't even have a title for what we call involment after we graduate because one you're a part of Kappa Delta Chi you're pretty much a sister for life unless you drop your letters.
My participation includes My regional Director position in the East Coast for the sorority, I'm a member of 2 national cmte's external recruitment and constitution and by-laws, but internally I also try to spread the word about opportunities such as scholarships, fellowships, job openings and travel with professional, graduate and undergraduate sisters. I think no matter what organization you're a part of it's up to you to make your organization what you want it to be with your involvment. |
In have recently decided to involve myself more as an alum. I recently joined the Facilty Corp. Board for my chapter and serve as its secretary and re-joined the advisory board for my chapter as the Panhellenic and Membership Advisor, and some roles of the Scholarship Advisor until an official advisor has been appointed.

It's probably been asked before, but how many of you are actively involved with your GLO as an alum?
I am very active! Are you involved in the local, regional or (inter)national level? I am involved in my local alumnae chapter and my collegiate chapter as an officer appointed by HQ. What do you do, specifically? I am the Permanent Alumnae Secretary for my collegiate chapter, and the Membership and Reference Chair for my Alumnae chapter. Why did you choose this area of involvement? After I graduated, I still wanted to be involved with my collegiate chapter which I helped to found. Are you also a dues paying alumni member of your GLO? If so, does that mean you pay dues only to your local alumni chapter or you pay separate local and international alumni dues to be considered an active alumna? If you are not a dues paying alumni member, why not? Yes, I pay dues to both my local alumnae chapter and to HQ. |
I am currently active in several different capacities:
Board of Directors of TN Rho Alumni Association Vice President for the regional governing council (PDA- Province Theta) Live-In Advisor for MS Gamma Chapter |

Oh, does that mean they are Latino? Why not just spell it out? Many are not as familiar with some of the new conferences as you seem to be. So, Educate us if you will!;) |

Are you asking why I didn't spell out the name? KDChi is their nickname, so that's how I always refer to them. And I'm really not in a position to "educate" you on all things KDChi since I'm not a member. Check out their website if you'd like. |
My daughter pledged a sorority last year and has gotten me thinking about getting involved as an alumni. In fact, she seems to hang out a lot at my old fraternity at her school and is dating one of the critters. If they still had little sisters (it's a crime this tradition has been lost over Greek political correctness), she'd probably be one.
If these kids are anything like I was at the same age, this makes me nervous. I kind of feel like showing up at a chapter meeting, asking the assembled over-testosteroned, if they consider me their brother, and reminding them when the answer is in the affirmative that messing around with a brother's daughter is de facto dating a niece and unacceptable outside of Arkansas. The proper role is to watch over, guard, and protect the niece. I haven't done it, but boy is it tempting. Fortunately, my daughter is a really good kid. Do I have life loyal status? Since I graduated. It means I get a quarterly magazine, donation requests with more frequency, and once had a paper certificate that I've long since lost. Am I involved? Nope. Would I get involved? Sure. So why am I not involved? The nearby alumni chapters are either comprised entirely of guys from the same school or seem to keep their meeting dates and times a mystery. Scratch that. The only alumni chapters that seem to meet with regularity are a haul away and meet during the day, adding lots of traffic delays (major metro area). It's a three hour commitment for lunch. Maybe I'll get motivated enough about the old fraternity to make a meeting some day when I'm in town and can carve out three free hours. |

Because I transferred schools, I only got to spend one year with OPA (one semester as a pledge, and the 2nd semester as an active sister). I am trying to be as active as I can as alumni. I will be writing chapter spotlight articles for OPA's quarterly newsletter. I've also just been appointed a Director of Alumnae Activities (DAA) for District 8 of OPA!

I have been activley inovolved for over twenty years. I am the Reccomendation advisor for my community. I assist any chapter in the state that needs assistance with recruitment. I am active in our local alumni chapter. I stay active because I enjoy the experience of sharing the ideals and values of the sorority and the joy of watching all the new members grow. And hey, they say activity keeps you young.

I'm a dues paying alumnae member of Pi Phi. For the past 4 years, I have served on the Alumnae Advisory Board for the local Pi Phi chapter. I have served on the exec board for the local Chicago Alumnae Club as club treasurer. I attended Convention in 2007 to accompany the collegiate chapter I advise. In addition, my little sister just pledged Pi Phi at my alma mater.
Overall, I consider myself to be an "very active" alumnae! |
