Okay, I stand corrected: the FOOTBALL TEAM needs the lectures etc etc. along with the fraternity, if indeed it is needed.

ALLEGED RAPE VICTIM TALKS TO CHANNEL 3

Reported by Mark Bruce

The alleged UTC rape victim gives her first television interview to Eyewitness News.

"When we got to the apartment, we went inside and I thought I would sleep and that's when everything happened," she said.

The 18 year old Freshman told her side of the story from October 21st.

"At that point, I was kind of blacking in and out," she said. "I was on the verge of passing out when we got there."

She says seven members of the football team took advantage of her after she admitted to drinking heavily at a fraternity house.

"I knew who they were," she said. "I recognized all their faces."

She talked about dealing with what happened.

"I try to go about my everyday life and do what I normally do," she said. "Don't stop because if I do, that will make me think about it more."

After she filed the report and news broke, she heard comments on campus. Some positive, most negative.

"Some people say I'm doing it for attention," she said. "Certainly, that's not it at all. I don't like this type of attention. I wish it never happened at all. I wish it could all stop. But since it did happen, I hope they do get punished."

I think its every man's mightmare to have sex with a woman and then have her accuse him of rape.

It shouldn't be "every man's nightmare" if these men are having sober, consensual sex with women. Women are NOT running around all willy-nilly accusing men of raping them for fun. It is clear in this story that the woman was intoxicated way past the point of consent. Why are you so sympathetic to the perpetrators?

Just as it is every woman's nightmare to be raped and not be believed.

I wish they asked her:

"If this happened Fri. night/Sat. morning, why were you at the football game later Sat. cheering the team? Why didn't you report this until Sun.?"

I'm glad she reported it, although it will probably cost LXA their charter, but I wish she had reported earlier, before taking a shower (assuming she did).

James 11-12-2005 04:21 AM

I didn't know I was sympathetic towards them.

On the road and offline for a week...

Let's not go any farther with or get any closer to the name calling.

Turning back to the football players who got this thread started, I wonder if any of them ever tried to use Wikipedia as a source, and were given a failing grade?

Stanford Univ. student newspaper says:
"The effectiveness and popularity of Wikipedia have stemmed from the ability of any user to make submissions, corrections and additions — all of which become visible and searchable instantaneously. On its Web site, Wikipedia states that “Wikipedia’s goal is to create a free, democratic, reliable encyclopedia — actually, the largest encyclopedia in history, in terms of both breadth and depth.”

"But many remain skeptical of Wikipedia’s credibility. Although the online encyclopedia is relatively well self-policed, there are occasional inaccuracies which cause some critics to see it as a potential fountain of erroneous data."

Wikipedia’s credibility: not acceptable. How can something that ANY USER can change be relied upon.

tan-gent (tan junt) - 1 diverging from an original purpose or course : irrelevant; 2 an abrupt change of course : digression (e.g., The speaker went on a tangent.)

WRCB-TV

Accused UTC Players Suspended from School

Six Chattanooga football players charged with raping a female student have been temporarily suspended by the university and an attorney for one of the players says he might challenge the action.
Attorney Mike Little said today that he was looking at a possible challenge.

Little says his client, DeJuan Payne of Stone Mountain, Georgia, is presumed innocent until proven guilty and currently there are only allegations.

Little says it now appears U-T-C's policy is ``to suspend everybody who's been arrested.''

Coach Rodney Allison previously suspended the players for a curfew violation that happened October 21st, the day of the alleged gang rape in a campus apartment.

Chancellor Roger Brown said yesterday the football players were no longer enrolled at U-T-C, pending a student conduct code hearing.

The six athletes were arrested and released on bonds earlier this week.

I feel really sorry for the girl and I hope appropriate legal action was taken. One should never undermine these kind of charges, but rather investigate it to its fullest

From the LXA page:

Brothers, remember the postings I did about my home chapter in relation to the young lady whom allegedly attended a party at the chapter before leaving with some football players? Well, on tonight's news, they announced that all charges against the football players charged with sexually assaulting her were dismissed tonight.
