I wouldn't call it cheating. I think it was a piss poor call that led to the win.
We can scream, argue, & yell until we're blue in the face but I think we all know that an umpire rarely if ever reverses a decision they make.

The WHite Sox did not cheat. It was a cheap win but they did not cheat. AJ did what he did because he was desperate. Shit, I would have done the same thing. The blame is on the umpire and his inconsistent ways. Nice backpeddling asshole. Oh and you gotta love the way the other umpires stepped in right away to help him out.

Yeah, that was my thought -- bitch about the umps all you want, but to call it "cheating" is plain wrong. Dude made a smart move, period, and anyone in his place should've done the same thing.

This is interesting, because the exact problem was that the ump actually reversed his original call when Pierzynski took off.

It should also be noted that AJ Pierzynski is known as the biggest douche in professional sports . . . this sort of 'massaging' is right in line with other stuff he's been known to pull.

How about Joe Crede being called out in the 7th to end the inning when he was clearly safe? Bad umping all around but bitching about umps doesn't get anyone anywhere. Its amazing how many times teams lose because the "umps" lost it for them. I still remember our third game in rocket football in fourth grade when we should have won but the umps screwed us!:rolleyes:

I liked how the commentators were all "Well the catcher thought he had it," as if that means anything. OF COURSE HE THOUGHT HE HAD IT. By the same token, OF COURSE DUDE IS GOING TO RUN IF THERE IS ANY POSSIBILITY DOING SO WILL BE A GOOD THING FOR HIM TO DO.

An important point, and I think it's the most interesting part of the situation. Of course it would happen to a guy like Pierzynski.

The ump blew that call, that's that. Unfortunately, it happens when you have human beings making those calls.

Actually, the fact that it was the White Sox had little to do with everyone talking about it. Similar calls in past playoffs have received just as much attention. There would be just as many columns criticizing the call if it went against the Angels.
