Sad in IL.......

Yeah, I stayed up until 4am,,,waiting and waiting, and I became SO sick....Man, I have waiting FOUR LONNG HARD years for this election, and it seems like we are back where we started from. I prayed all night, and will be praying all day. It is NOT over till God says so, and I hope and pray that we get a miracle. My ship is in Iraq now, and was called over there RIGHT when she started planing for her wedding. I want her home SO bad, as well as everyone else. But you know what? I have to believe and have faith that it is now in God's hands.

It AMAZES me on how the state that had the MOST layoffs are in favor of BUSH!!!!...

Before I went to bed last night...I flipped to almost ALL of the news channels. Why were there varying results? One station had Kerry with 206 and Bush with 207. Then, at the same time, another network reported Bush with (say) 245 and Kerry with (say) 187 and so on with the other networks.

Where were they getting their information from?

Something needs to be done with the electoral process. I think it needs to be tweaked to reflect the (technological)changes/advances of the 21st Century.

Definitely. There are a lot of changes that need to be done between now and 2008. Get rid of the Electoral college. I am more in favor of the popular vote myself.

Strengthen the 3rd party contenders to have a more viable chance.

IF!!! Kerry loses this year, how likely is it that he will run again in 2008? Who else might be a strong Democratic contender for 2008?

This is the reason why I didn't watch any coverage last night. I knew information was going to be contradicting and it would have drove me crazy.

DIVA1177 11-03-2004 11:07 AM

I think you are right CT4. WAAAAAY back in the day, there was a need for the electoral college. However with the advancement of our society, I think it has outlived its usefulness. I don't think Kerry would run again. I think Obama would make a GREAT candidate but he would run from it like the plauge(who could blame him). I can also see(based on what this Bush fool does for the next four years) a Clinton 2008 bumper sticker coming...Hilary Clinton 2008.

kiml122 11-03-2004 11:36 AM

I am so disgusted, depressed, and anythign else that anyone else wants to add that it's not even funny. How did this fool win both the popular vote and the E-College?:(

Also, the phone lines were cut to a local office that was being used to call voters last night.

Is this really what we've come to. PLEASE somebody tell me that this is a cruel joke.

My sister reported a story equally as disturbing. She works for an agency that rented about 50 vans to pick up folks to take them to vote. When they got to the office yesterday morning, the tires had been slashed on ALL 50 vans. Obviously, they weren't able to get as many people to the polls as they had promised. This was in a swing state.

One reason for the discrepancies is this: I was watching ABC and they were being extra cautious about their projections this year because of the huge mistake they made last election. They were like 95% certain before they listed any projections AND their "projection team" were in a room and had no contact with the outside world. That way, they don't have any influcence from other networks. I am sticking with them. They were the only network who had not given Ohio to Bush.

According to the AP, Kerry just called Bush and conceded.

You know!! At least Gore rode that 2000 election out for the long road. Gore must be someone who likes to ride or die. Aren't they still counting ballots?
