Tell me about it. There was a guy who acted like he owned my soul after paying for dinner. If you don't want to, don't do it. In his case, I didn't ask him out.
I can assure you when I really like boys, I ask them out, I pay for things and I do it gracefully (for instance cute boy from the above post... I am going to call him, pick the place and pay for it- I know exactly where I want to go!). It just depends how much I like them.
And I like this thread because I have a place to tell Lindz and the other single people my adventures, and they have a space to tell me theirs. It is exciting, to go out and meet new people. It gives you a little rush, and can leave you with odd stories and fun memories.

I to do not mind paying for things on a date.... I kinda like it to be 50/50. I once dated a guy who liked to throw his money around to impress people, and he would NEVER let me pay for anything. For 4 months I didn't pay for a single thing, and it actually got annoying... I mean seriously dude, I can afford to pay for my own McDonalds. :p It actually made me feel worthless to not even be able to take HIM out once in awhile. Ok, end of rant. :)

Michelle is right, this thread is a great place for us single people to share stories and ask for advice from other people in the same situation. My best friends are engaged, and when they hear my stories, they usually just shake their heads at me. They like hearing about it, but they just don't understand anymore. It's nice to talk to other single people! :)

Truth - It boggles my mind that a guy (yeah, not NOT my best friend) would seriously feel the need to pay for literally everything . . . rather than chivalrous or old-fashioned, it's anachronistic at best, and arrogant and abasing at worst.

I like paying for things, but it would be completely dick to 'force' some poor girl to have me 'provide' for her all the time. She's not exactly burning her bra by whipping out the wallet, just being a real human being.

Ohhhh wow. What a cool place. However, I was hoping to spend a tad less than that. But It's a good idea for special occasions.
I suggested Enrico's on the phone, and he seemed impressed/happy with that. The website isn't nearly as cool, but they have really fun outdoor dining.

Also, a word to the wise, its very important to have sex with him on the first date. Thats gets it out of the way so you don't have to worry about it anymore. No more obsessing about when is a good time, or whether it will change things.
