Falling backwards. On an escalator, a car going backwards over a cliff or down a hill, anything like that. I do OK at the amusement park on the pirate ship & when they had the loop that went forwards then backwards though.
I am also terrified of bats but I think that's pretty common. |
That "Emergency Broadcast Test" noise that comes on around 3 am.
Any sudden, loud, noise like a siren. Being kidnapped. Falling off of anything into water. |
I'm scared of bridges, but not driving over them, or being in a vehicle on them. I'm only afraid of walking over bridges; I think it's because I don't trust that the people I'm walking with won't push me over. When I was in middle school the nearest movie theater was in walking distance but it was over a huge drawbridge so I always made my friends walk several feet in front of me and not look at or talk to me until we crossed.

Elevators! I'm very claustophobic.
Insane people or insanity in general Smurfs. I'm not actually afraid of them but they freak me out. And lately this photo keeps popping up on my usual eBay searches. It freaks me out and makes me instantly gag. I don't even know what it's for. Whatever it is, I wish they'd stop selling it. |
Eyes. Like human eyes. I am absolutely terrified of them.
When I was 14 and in a cheerleading competition, a cheerleader on another squad had finger nails that were too long. She was catching one of the flyers on her squad, the flyer fell, and the long-nailed girl hooked her nail into the white of the flyers eye. It was disgusting and chaotic and everyone just went into a complete panic. After that, I couldn't even walk down the aisle of the drugstore that contains eye products without freaking out. Every single thing about eyes completely terrified me. I'm getting better but I still can't watch someone touch their eye, can't touch my own eyes, can't look at pictures of eyes, can't put eyedrops in...the list goes on. |
Lots of people have already mentioned birds, but I, too, and deathly terrified of birds. All birds. And bats. And big butterflies/moths. Well, really anything with wings.
(Especially people's pet birds that they let out of their cages--aughh!) |
1) Nails scraping any service
2) Sharp things poking my eyes 3) Umbrella's pinching my fingers when I close them 4) Accidents involving all types of transportation - I know this seems like a common fear, but mine is SO extreme. Like, I take the train to work everyday and if the train honks it's horn, I automatically think we're honking at another train to get out of the way. 5) Falling or getting pushed down on the train pit it's approaching. |

I am very freaked out by clowns! I can handle Ronald McDonald and Grandma from the Big Apple Circus - but if there are any on TV, my DH will tell me to cover my eyes then let me know when it's safe!
I also hate staplers. I put a staple through my thumb when I was younger. Now anytime one needs to be refilled, I have to ask a coworker to open up the top and slam it down to make sure it's closed! The same thing with paper cutters and Xacto blades. I sliced a small portion of my left index finger off with a blade at work a few years ago. It hasn't grown back the same! |

I also hate clowns, spiders, and..... BALLOONS. I hate the latex balloons sooo much! I think mostly because I think they're gonna pop on me... but they just remind me of scary clowns  |
