lol how cute is that!!! I don't think I will ever know exactly why dogs seem to like the tub so much... maybe it is the canine equivilant of cats jumping in sinks?

It worked! It worked!! Do I have a great <> Sis or what?! That's Buffy, curled up on my mama's pillow. At bedtime, he moves over to his own, and sleeps next to her.

BTW, when I first came here to help my mother, I noticed that, if I didn't shut the door, Buffy would try to join me in the shower! Are dogs are worshippers of porcelain or what?!

Doggies aren't the only ones who like the tub! Mr Tiger climbed up on the rim of the tub while I was taking a bubble bath this morning. He looked like he was contemplating jumping in with me! He didn't though which is a good thing cause I didn't really want to chase a wet cat around the house!

My Fluffball does that too... And he will actually get in the bath with me... Also after you take a shower he likes to run around in the wet bottom of the shower...

I have been in Dallas the last few days for work and had to board Riley at a houston kennel while I was away. What's the first thing she did when we got home last night? Ran into the bathroom, jumped in the tub and started licking the faucet!

My puppy is nuts!

Time to get in on the fun... :)

I've put a few things on your ChitChat thread. I don't know anyone who's ever shipped their dogs via cargo, so I don't have any good information - but I would really need to know WHY Riley can't have a toy with him!!!!

Well, you know... a plush alphie might be seen as a WMD...

I agree--- pretty dumb. I just want her to be warm and safe and secure. I booked a direct flight to lessen the stress.

Any tips on teaching your dog to tell you when she has to potty?

I have a friend who has his dog trained SO well! They have a bell hanging from their back door, and whenever she needs to go outside, she goes and rings the bell! :eek: Amazing.

I think the way they did it was just that from the time she was a puppy, everytime they took her out to go to the bathroom, then showed her the bell and rang it then let her outside. Also, if she had an accident in the house, they did something like point out the mess, then take her to the door and ring the bell..... Something like that. Whatever they did works. It is so cool to see a little dog go and ring a bell when she has to go outside! :)

I just had a very sad picture of trying to teach Buffy this... very sad. Maybe we can try it, though.

We did have a cat, however, who would paw the doorknob when he wanted to go outside.

Our little Cheyenne does something similar to the doorbell ringing, she "knocks" on the door. Really she paws/scratches at it, but it works the same way. When she needs to go potty, she just goes over to the back door, scratches, and then sits and waits. Now, sometimes we don't come as quickly as we should and then she'll come sit in front of us and stare. (We know this look. ) She might turn around a few times and then go to the front door and sit.

We didn't really train her to do any of that. I think she just figured out that when she went outside she had to go through a door.

I tried teaching Violet the bell thing, but she didn't go for it.

Violet's trainer said if you put peanut butter on the bell right before they go outside they will lick the bell (making it ring) then you open the door to let her out.

She didn't like the bell though. She has figured out on her own to go towards the door, and then walk back just enough for me to see her, and then she stands there and STARES ME DOWN.

This is my cue she needs to go outside immediately :)

ADPiUCF- when I flew with Tiger from Germany to Colorado, the vet recommended minimal food that morning (about half of what you normally feed) and give it as early before the flight as the airline will allow. Also, take away the water as early as allowed too. Animals have a good reserve stored in their little bodies and Riley won't be moving around very much in her kennel anyways. Tiger made it all the way from the hotel in Germany to my parents house without making a mess in his kennel! It was about 17 hours total. Of course, as soon as we got there, he found a litter box within about 20 minutes!
