IDAHO is the potato state.

In Iowa we are the Hawkeye state, with the IOWA State Fair...one of the greatest attractions available in the US all summer!

LOL, I know that, that's why I put :sarcasm: face after it.
:D

"Anyways" bothers me! Also, I think "womyn/wymyn" is kinda tacky. I get it, but I don't like it.

You need the book by Tim Woodward "Is Idaho in Iowa?: The Dumbfounding Confusion".

Idaho isn't the "Potato State" anyway, it is the "Gem State", full of garnets. However if you moved to Idaho, you could rock this on your car:

That reminds me, it is time for lunch.

I find the over use of "like" to be tasteless and tacky in speech.

AlphaSigOU 05-28-2004 02:18 PM

Abusing the word "like" and "y'know" by using it as filler for conversation.

Like, it sounds so ignorant, y'know, coming like from college-educated people!

My cousin uses the word "Jewish" as a synonym for stupid. For example, if a door is broken, he'll say, "Damn Jewish door" or something to that effect. I was shocked the first time I heard him say that. Not sure where he picked it up.

A lot of people use "Jew" to describe people who are selfish or stingy...or even imply it by the POSSIBILITY of a lie...

"You got a cig?"
"Naw, I'm out"
"Yeah right you Chabad jew, I saw you buy a pack yesterday..."

Ah, SDSU, a fine institute of highler learning.......

Yikes.

That's how Michael Jackson got in trouble for the "Jew me sue me" lyric years ago.

I hate it when people say "gyp" as in "don't gyp me." Yes, yes, I have encountered Gypsies before and am also aware of the lifestyle stereotype. I still hate it when people say that.

hmm... I don't really say this, but I also never thought about it before... interesting

I HATE it when people announce that they have to piss or pee - I find it particularly offensive when other women say it. Must just be the context, because someone saying they're "pissed off" doesn't bother me nearly as much.

This is one of my pet peeves. But, it does bring back funny memories of the Friends episode where Joey thinks that it is a real word.

Yes! I think that was the one where Chandler worries that he spends more time on dates figuring out what's wrong with his dates rather than enjoying them. I can't remember the exact line, but he said something like, "What if I already met the woman of my dreams but broke up with her because she pronounced it 'supposably'?" (love the very last scene of that show where he's on a date and he's thinking something along the lines of, "She's nice, funny, has pretty eyes, BIG HEAD BIG HEAD BIG HEAD!!!" )

"I seen" (I have stopped dating men who used this term, it drives me crazy!)
"flustrated" (just like supposably)

I don't get the term "AnyHoo" either. It irritates me.

"I says" is equally annoying.
