deltababy, not needed to be posted, for a myrid of reasons, there is already a vengefull angle out there who seems to be doing it!:o

As far as deleting a post, it is not to be your decision alone, but others who are Moderators!

I hope you were putting this on here as a tongue in cheek statement!:)

If the case, then I bow my head to you!

If not, then some should take heed as to what is said and done! Not just making rash statements about deleting posts that You do not like, is not the way to do it!e! :)

This is not the thread to place something like this in either!:D

My point is just that I can't believe feelings run this strong on either side of this issue.

This is a GREEKCHAT forum, and we are debating threads that have nothing to do with that.

guys. just get over it. honestly please lets stop bickering about this. Threads were deleted. People are unhappy. The mod who deleted them is not planning on telling us why. MOVE ON!!!! It's getting kind of sad how long people are dwelling on this, even though they were fun threads.

Also, it may not have been a mod who did it. Like Lifesaver said, whoever started the thread may have deleted his/her post which causes the whole thread to vanish.

Try deleting a thread you started. You can't. You can only edit the original message. You would have to ask a mod of the particular forum to delete the entire thread on your behalf, but as popular as these threads were, I don't think that they would be deleted at the request of the thread starter(s).

I'm not saying anybody should continue to argue or ask questions, but wanted to point out to you that it hasn't even been 24 hours since this thread was first started. It may seem like it's been longer, but would seem that way when you (not you in particular) visit the thread several times in those 24 hours.

For those who are wondering...I would NEVER ask a mod to delete ANY thread with 100+ replies started by ME. So, don't look at me. :D Locks are golden, but deletes are uncool.

Unless this was done by John to save bandwith, it was by a mod for a personal reason. What makes this complicated is that there is like 10 mods in CC now. It could've been anyone. I doubt two of them would ever delete those type of threads or any of my threads for no reason, the rest I don't know.

I think this has to do a lot with who's posting what in certain threads. If that's the case, please don't make others suffer. :D

I really don't get why post counts are sooooo important. But if it is important to some...let it be.

I think Rachel was referring to the fact several pages have been written on this, in fairness to her.

My take on the situation is that it is unfortunate those threads were deleted. We can assume one of ten chitchat moderators deleted the threads. Moderators on any forum, bulletin board or mailing list are there to monitor the boards so as to facilitate discussion and ensure things are not inappropriate for that forum. On this board, we know (or at least did) a specific post of ours could be deleted if they contained something offensive & inflammatory or if they quoted a post which someone else made which had required deletion. We also know a thread can become locked if it reaches a point where discussion has become so heated that normal debate within it can't continue without attacks. Or, that a thread can be deleted if the thread is full of such posts that break the greekchat rules and it would be easier all round to take it off the boards because it would offend the membership if it were to remain; on account of the posts on it.

So that's why I think there have been quite a few pages on this, because the threads were not at a point where nobody could continue without attacking each other, where it was full of racist or xenophobic comments etc. Up to now people have always known where they stood. In the absence of any information supplied to the contrary, and as they were deleted without any of the above applying, some of us can only assume the act was done by someone on a power trip? It's a shame.

I still maintain this isn't why this 'deleted threads' thread exists. People used the word assoc/have you ever threads because they were FUN. Because they were entertaining. That's why I never posted in the new threads which sprang up to replace them, in the last few days; because those former threads weren't about "making a protest", everyone who used those deleted threads just had, as far as I could see, harmless fun over the months/years they were there.
