Soda.

Around here (CT), if you order a coke, you'll get Coca-Cola. If you order pop you'll get a funny look, and possibly some bubble wrap to play with.

in New Jersey, it's soda.
at school in Canada, I get all sorts of funny looks when I call it that, so I *try* to adapt and call it pop... It doesn't usually work though!

Where in Maryland do you live because the Maryland I know is SODA.

Virginia has soda. It took me the longest time to retrain my brain to soda instead of pop. Some people had no clue what pop was, and I was tired of "pop...uh, I mean soda."

my dad says "soda pop" and he's originally from Long Island, NY. My mom still hasn't quite trained him (in the last 30 years) to say "pop" like any respectable Washingtonian.

My ex-boyfriend was from Ohio and was living in Pittsburgh at the time we were dating. He called it "pop", so his roommate and I would annoy him by saying that anyplace where it's refered to as "pop" was part of the midwest. He would be like "Ohio and Pittsburgh are not the midwest." And we would be like "Anything west of Philly is the midwest."
