A very nice definition.

The pictures posted on that site are NOT the accuser. I was watching Celebrity Justice and it was saying that the girl in those pictures has a name similar to the accuser but it is not her and they are looking into what her rights are. They showed those exact pictures but with the face blurred out.

What is wrong with reporters lately? Are they too flipping lazy to actually verify their facts first? Yeesh............

To some people, feminism seems to be the belief that women are better than men or that women are inherently good and men are bad. I also have heard women say that they aren't feminists because they want to look pretty, wear make up, and shave their legs.

Just food for thought.

That's just the way our society works. Kobe was a role model for people, those "100's of other people" weren't projecting the same image that Kobe Bryant was probably. Therefore you can't compare the two.

Also, everyone needs role models, I'm not saying that they should necessarily be celebrities but it's easy for people to use them as role models b/c we only know stuff about them that they feel we should know. Little kids especially look up to him. He had a certain image to maintain, he knew that, we knew that, everyone did and he blew that. Whether or not he actually raped this girl, just the fact that he cheated on his wife ruins his reputation IMO. I don't care what people I don't know do, personally, but I don't want to hear him or his reps claiming that he's still basketballs "golden boy" so to speak, because now we know he's just human. That's life. But its sad because little kids out there who don't know any better and thought he was larger than life are now probably really dissapointed b/c he's in trouble. Who knows? :(

Please don't refer to random Internet site operators as reporters. Us legitimate journalists get sort of upset.
:p :D

I think it's interesting that no one has mentioned this: out of all rape cases reported, I think something like 9% or something are made up....can't remember the exact # but I know its extremely low.
My best friend is a peer rape educator and i've kind of absorbed a lot of her facts. There IS a study on binary report saying that they now think it's more like 50%, but there's way more information to back up the earlier claim.

My point is, she had serious injuries, the odds are in her favor, who knows??? She totally could have given herself the injuries, but if there were any lab tests for sexual assault that came back positive, its kind of hard to fake that.....

I just wanted to bump this up b/c I heard on the news tonight that Nike is thinking about breaking it's contract with Kobe solely b/c he admitted to adultery. I think that's really sad b/c that contract is worth $45 million! To him yea maybe that's not the end of the world, but it just makes me really sad. He made a mistake, he deserves to be punished. But it just goes to show that everything is so much bigger when you're famous, you lose big too. Whether or not he's guilty I'm just starting to feel real bad for him b/c his whole image is just ruined now. :(

Well, there is no way he isn't getting some money from them if they break the contract. Trust me. Somewhere in that contract it says that if either one of them breaks the contract, money is to be paid.

It looks like Nike has already decided that he is a rapist. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? :(

I know most major corporations (like nike) include a morality clause in their contracts with big names (like kobe).

to them it doesn't matter if he'd found innocent or guilty - he's already broken that morality clause by admitting to adultery...

Oh so true. . . .I don't understand how Nike can put something like that in a contract. Wouldn't it be put to better use if he killed someone? Adultery is wrong, but not enough to lose a contract over. There is more behind that. People have kept contracts for stuff that was way worse than adultery.

Did anyone see the ring he bought his wife? OMG. That was great PR on his part. . .buying his wife that ring was like renewing his vows. . .showing the world that he does love his wife. . .unless you think that he did it because she threatened to divorce him and take his child. . .. . . that would be brutal. . .

Okay, what about Micheal Jordan? He has a huge contract with Nike. When he cheated on his wife they didn't try to break their contract with him.

LOL!!! I was thinking the same thing...Is the ring supposed to be her consolation prize? :D

KappaKittyCat 07-29-2003 11:32 AM

I think that the adultery is between him and his wife. I also have no clue what went on in that hotel room. I feel really bad for the alleged victim and for Mrs. Bryant and her children.

If that's the case then that would mean a double standard to me. But then again, Mike hasn't been accused of sexual assault neither.
