haha, i remember five of the six sororities recruitment chants:
*with a k-a-p-p-a-g-a-m-m-a it's kappa gamma, that's what i amma
*a-l-p-h-a-p-h-i alpha phi. a-l-p-h-a-p-h-i alpha phi. we are the mighty girls that go to unt. we wear the ivy leaf so everyone can see that we are a-l-p-h-a-p-h-i alpha phi.
*C to the H to the I, O to the M to the E. G to the A what's that say? chi-o's the one for me.
* its true its blue its the one for you, gotta love it alpha delta pi. im an alpha delta alpha true blue till i die. adpi adpi its the one for you, so come along and you can be an adpi too, its true its blue its the one for you, gotta love it alpha delta pi.
*boom boom boom boom zeta boom thats what i love boom boom boom boom zeta, with a five point crown above. with the zeta grey and the zeta blue and the zeta love that's oh so true.

all i remember of pi-phi's is "pi phi is the best and the rest is up to you"

BACK TO THE SUBJECT
-i love the pins of AXO and AZD.
-i love the guard/pin combo of Tri-Delta, because i adore the fact that the trident guard goes behind the pin rather than next to it.

-I think KD and AKA have awesome colors, because not many female GLOs seem to have green.
-i also like kappa's colors, because my favorite color is blue.

-i like alpha phi's ivy leaf.
-im jealous of zeta's crown, because ive seen it used in so many different ways, and i dont think any of my GLOs symbols are as versatile.

-i like KDs letters because my name is Katy, and they sound alike!
-i like Theta's letters because everytime i see them, even though technically its KAT, it makes me think of their symbol the kite. dont as me why, it just does, so i just call them the kites.
-I just like the combo of Alpha Xi Delta, but until i got on greek chat i pronounced it Z-eye, since there isnt a chapter here, and im still a little sad that its pronounced Zee. but life goes on.

- I really like DG's anchor, and the fact that Gamma kinda looks like an upside down anchor sometimes, and like with the zeta crown, i am jealous of the anchor's versatility.

1. AKL
They're great guys, and I really love that they have an anti-domestic violence philanthropy.
2. AOPi
Everyone I have met from that house is so nice. At it seems like a lot of them are super involved around campus.
3. Sig Eps
You gotta love a house that emphasizes leadership, academics, and community service.

my turn!

1. AKA and DST: I constantly see their letters in my graduate classes. I can't say that about any other group. I also see their letters on almost every other car.

2. KKG: Majestic and beautiful. I love their symbols, and I'm so impressed with how many amazing schools have a chapter.

3. DG: Love the anchor. I was always really impressed with how dedicated the DGs were on my undergrad campus. They were smart, active, nice, and even good looking.

4. Phi Tau: great guys and great parties.

Let's see - and some of this is neat stuff I've learned visiting NPC headquarters -
HQ staffs are the BEST. I have yet to not be welcomed like a long-lost sister. I adore looking at the old badges and insignia.
- I LOVE Phi Mu's hot pink golf cart at HQ. Golf carts are a major form of transportation in Peachtree City, GA, and they've got a great one!
- I love Pi Phi's crest - the diamond shape is so distinctive.
- I love the Chi Omega handkerchiefs - I don't know if they still do it, but at HQ they told me that little sisters always used to get an embroidered handkerchief from their big sister -to use on their wedding day. Love their colors, too.
- I love the presidents' dresses on display at AOII and Alpha Delta Pi HQ
- Tri Delt's HQ is so neat - loads of triangles, crescents (the driveway is one) and the beautiful mural of the founders. Gotta love the trident guard. So unique!
-A D II's headquarters is tucked into a lovely old neighborhood - their new expansion fits in perfectly.
- KDs at HQ were a riot - I laughed till my cheeks hurt.
- My brother is a Sigma Chi - ex-husband was president when a colony was chartered - gotta love 'em. Except for the ex's lawyer who is a brother. Him I don't love. But I digress. They have GREAT colors.
- I too envy mascots. We had the Gammy Bug - THE GAMMY BUG??? - Nope. But the lions, owls, unicorns, squirrels, ladybugs, giraffes, dolphins - very cool.
- Love KKG's website. Chi-O too - I love how the chapters have a uniform website look.
I'm sure I'll have more after my next foray into NPC headquarters . . .

anybody know who wrote The Creed of Phi Mu and how she was inspired? There are phrases that are in The Creed of Sigma Nu word for word.

ATO got kicked off our campus but their "alumni" always sit with us during football games and had one of our bros' back at a bar incident. The rivalry is in good fun and I've seen plenty of ATOs elsewhere kick it with Sigma Nu

Theta Chi- For being chill as hell and always welcoming us to party with them. (I pulled into my parking lot after work and as I stepped out of my car they demanded to speak with me. I get over to their house next door and they declare I'm not allowed to leave until I do a beer bong with them....)

Beta Theta Pi- For the same reason.

Sigma Chi- For making grades a priority while maintaining a good reputation

Delta Upsilon- For being extremely friendly to other Greeks.

KyleMcGuire1983 03-07-2007 06:38 PM

Pi Kappa Alpha- For raising $4,000 for a recent alum of theirs with Cancer! THAT is brotherhood.

While I'm no sure who wrote it, I can tell you we were established in 1852, however I don't know when the creed as it stands was written. Any takers? The library doesn't have the alleged copy of Phi Mu's history that Phi Mu donated to the school when we got our charter. I've tried, I can't find it.

ETA: I just read your creed. Yeah...something's going on there for sure, it is the same, your's is extended, but it's the same creed!

AOE2AlphaPhi 03-07-2007 09:05 PM

I'm really impressed by Kappa Alpha Theta's philanthropy, CASA.

BabyPink, I just read the Phi Mu creed and have to admit - I love it!!!!

Back in School---

PIKES: Struggled with manpower, so they were trying to get up their numbers the whole time. Largest house on the row. Good grades, pretty nice guys, but again I didn't really know many of them.

SIGMA CHI: Strong house. Great guys. Our neighbors, and we did Absolut Sigma party with them which was a monster. Very down to earth. $$Money house. My 2nd choice house if I didn't go Sigma Nu.

KAPPA SIG: One of their stronger chapters. They won their award for being one of the best KS chapters in the nation. We went back and forth as the largest house my 4 years there. I still remember doing shot after shot with a couple of their upper classmen at one of our parties, then calling their housephone to get their pledges to come carry them home :)

KA: They were a very small house, but seriously good guys. Good athletes. I remember their goldfish party each year was a blast (not sure why, but you ate goldfish at that party. http://swhitehorse.phenominet.com/fo...es/newsick.gif) I also remember them being hela-cool enough to let me work their bar for another party!

LAMBDA CHI: We interacted the least with them as they kept to themselves. They were a solid chapter, good athletes, manpower, etc. I don't think I was friends with any of their members so I don't have much to say on them.

On my campus:

Kappa Phi Omega-- for having so many members, and so many girls involved all over campus. Plus- loooovee the scottie dog mascot.

Tau Epsilon Mu- for being such grounded and fun ladies, as well as excellent neighbors!

Sigma Alpha Tau- ladies of straight up class and poise. Very dedicated christians and campus leaders as well. They do a ton of philanthropy, not a week goes by where they aren't walking for this or swimming for that.

Theta Nu- they have an adorable, beautiful house. Plus, they grew from a chapter of 6 girls to the largest chapter on campus in less than 10 years. They have a very diverse membership as well. Plus, unique mascot (the deer).

Epsilon Kappa Tau- if a sorority could have "sisters", I'd like to think they'd be our "sister" chapter. We tend to have a lot of women who attend our final part and EKT's final party as well. Our mixers are a blast as well. They're so dedicated to their philanthropy (breast cancer), and plus their chapter colors are pink and white, so there's a TON of pink ribbons everywhere (their nametags for recruitment this year were foamie breast cancer ribbons w/ the PNM's name on them). Their sword badges are very unique and they are one of the very few chapters that have retained their original badges.

In a larger context:

AKA- So many teachers who influenced me are members. I didn't really get what the pink and green lanyards were all about when I was in school, or why they all had little ivy plants on their desks, but now I see why. I've never met one who wasn't an intelligent and classy woman.

Alpha Xi Delta- for my future sister in law! I've met so many of her sisters, and they're all ridiculously smart and fun ladies. Plus she was smart enough to want to marry my brother ;). Also, I *love* the motto and the badge.

Phi Kappa Tau- for turning my brother into a man! His experience with Greek life influenced my decision to go greek. I am amazed at the dedication and loyalty his chapter brothers, even as alums, display...his entire grooms party will be Phi Taus. Plus, they initiated the greatest man in my life...MY GRANDFATHER! My brother and grandfather joke that "only in WV can your grandfather be your brother as well!". It was amazing for my bro and grandpa to be chapter brothers as well as alumni together. Meant a lot to both of them.

I think Delta Gamma and Delta Zeta have the best colors. Pink and green go together so well, and so do pink and blue. Oh, and I love how girly Phi Mu's is, too. I'm not the biggest fan of my sorority's colors. On bid day, we use red, green, AND white ballons just to make it look less like a Christmas party! But, our interior decorator flawlessly incorporated them into our house and everything looks so springy and beautiful--I love it.

Chi O's owl is the CUTEST thing ever. But I have to say I'm a big fan of "thing" mascots. KKG's key, DG's anchor, Theta's kite, Pi Phi's arrow, ZTA's crown, and of course, my own lyre :), to name a few.

Tri-Sig has the best motto, "Faithful unto Death." I love their use of skulls and crossbones (and Chi O's, too). It's so mysterious and secretive and cool.

KDISU 03-09-2007 11:01 PM

On my campus....

I love Pi Phis because they are all so intelligent - and I have a great friend in that house!

I love DUs because they are so committed to eachother, and very accepting.

I love Thetas because they are all so nice, warm, and open.

I love Pi Kapps because they are super nice, sweet, and always gentlemanly; and because they have great philanthropies. Also, they're some of the best looking guys on campus! :)

Most of all I love KD for all the great friends and opportunities it has given me!

macallan25 03-09-2007 11:08 PM

FIJI and KA here at Texas are the only other houses that are worth a shit. Delt is ok but insanely metro. Sig Ep is basically the top tier's B Team, ok with a nice house, but still just a bunch of Seps.

Yeah. Thing mascots are awesome. For instance, I always wanted a tattoo. Can't get my letters. And there is no cool way to tattoo a squirrel on yourself. There's just not. Our only other choices are a red and buff rose (hard to do without looking like a fake tattoo you get out of the machine at the grocery store) and pearls...what, tattoo a pearl necklace on?
