Our bid cards, at least for my chapter, were pieces of heavy-stock tan paper (that was letter sized) which had our crest on the top, and a formal invitation to join. They were signed by our President and our MVP.

What did they read specifically?

HotDamnImAPhiMu 06-09-2003 12:53 AM

Mine was heavy stock paper, the size and shape of a business envelope. It had a pretty border and in script read,

The Sisters of Phi Mu

Formally Extend to You

A Bid of Sisterhood

It was beautiful, but mine was in a balloon I popped, so was folded and not really quite right for framing. I keep meaning to steal one of the extras we make before bid night (what could be worse than running out of bid cards?!)

Mine was printed on card stock and used for all of the bids on my campus then, it had a space where the sorority name could be written in. Sadly, it's pretty generic but got the message across :D

If I can pull out my scrapbook tomorrow I'll type the text in.

My sorority purse that my best friend made me!

I love my tote bag, my bid card, my membership certificate, my flip-flops...I'm also working on a scrapbook. But I lost my lavaliere. :( Did you do your cross-stitches from a kit? I'd love to find one!

Nope... made up my own design, with letters and a spray of lily of the valley.

My favorite thing is our windbreaker, I wear that thing ALLL the time, any season. And then it would have to be my paddle and pin box.

Fave AOII items:

My badge, it is from 1924, my great-grandmother and grandmother both wore it as AOIIs at UTK and Newcomb College of Tulane and then me at Ole Miss.

My AOII charm bracelet I put togeter with my lavalier, AOII charms, etc on it

My Bid Day card that the Rho Chi gave me that says:

Congratulations Katherine
Bid: Alpha Omicron Pi

My AOII Certificate that says I'm a member that I had framed.

And probably this ceramic heart box that my big sis gave me for initiation that she made for me at some paint your own potter place in Jackson, MS. It is so special to me because it holds my badges and she made it for me.

(I think homemade gifts are sometimes the best)

Oh and my tee shirt collection! I was tee shirt chair for a year and I have so many AOII shirts! I want to have them made into a quilt one day!

I don't know that I can tell you...I should be able to but I just want to make sure...so if another Gamma Phi tells me I can, then I will. It's always better to err on the safe side.

Basically it said, it nicer language "We think you are a good person and have chosen you to carry on our sisterhood."

Try Ebay...I have definitely seen cross stitch kits for sororities there!

a few of my favorite things

I thought I would do a little medley from the Sound of Music but then thought against it.

My favorite Pi Phi things are:
My first set of letters.
My Pin(duh!)
My lavaliere, I wear it everyday.
A set of wooden letters my bigs mom bought for her that I have loved and my big gave them to me on senior farewell to pass down(although I really don't want to):D
And of course I love my pillow thats a tradition in our chapter. Most of our alums still have theirs, they're so special to us.

My favorite item of all would have to be my pearl inset badge - I ordered and received it on deployment with the Navy - it kept me somehow connected back to college, where I returned after my active duty time.

I also have a needlepoint created by a 90 some year old alumni from another chapter that was a gift to our chapter on our 10 year anniversary. However, it isn't "mine," and will be returned to the colony when they finally complete their chartering requirements.

I still have my AM badge inset in my I-Week candle, that is kept in a high place of honor.

However, my newest item, thanks to Tom Earp and others postings, is the new LXA Alumnus pyramid. Although small, it is very cool, and proudly displayed at home!

when we were going through our national new member program, (we were founders.. we don't have bigs) we had "secret sisters" where we would make cute little things for our chosen ones.. Well my secret sister made me this little paddle.. nothing big, just our letters and my name, well, this sister and I had at the time not really gotten to know one another, but now, she's one of my very best friends, and that paddle, i swear to you, will go into my coffin with me when i (god forbid) pass.. it's a symbol of how 30 girls on our campus came from perfect strangers, to the powerhouse that we call sigma delta tau.
My lavalier, i got upon my initiation, but i handed it down to my little sis on the day that she got initiated, that's of great value even though it's not in my possession.
I guess i have to give some love to my jacket too, (everyone else in my chapter better love those things too) seeing as that i sat for two and a half hours in completely stopped traffic, mid-span on the Delaware Memorial Bridge to pick those things up....and i HATE bridges...(my poor girls got an earful that day, let me tell you) yeah... i love my jacket:mad:
